National Institute of Design (NID) announced on its website that NID DAT 2020 admission process. The application form of NID DAT 2020 has been released on October 1, 2019. Candidates should keep the requisite documents ready that will be required to upload, along with the application form.
The eligibility criteria of NID DAT states the age limit, educational qualification and the qualifying exams that are accepted by the National Institute of Design. All applicants applying for B.Des. and GDPD programmes must fulfil both age and education qualification criteria. NID DAT Eligibility Criteria
Aspirants born on or after July 1, 2000, are eligible to apply. However, there is a relaxation of three years for those belonging to the reserved categories.
Students, who have passed or will appear for class 12 examination in any stream in the academic year 2019–20 from any recognized board, such as CBSE, IB, ICSE or their equivalent can apply for NID DAT 2020.
Qualifying exams that are accepted by National Institute of Design are mentioned below:
Final examination of the 10+2 system under a central or state board recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU, Refer http://www.aiu.ac.in).
Intermediate or two-year pre-university examination under a board or university recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU, Refer www.aiuweb.org).
Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
Senior secondary school examination under the National Institute of Open Schooling, with a minimum of five subjects.
Any public school, board or university examination completed in India or in any foreign country recognised is considered equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU, Referwww.aiuweb.org).
H.S.C. vocational examination.
General Certificate Education (GCE) examination at the Advanced (A) level taken in London, Cambridge or Sri Lanka.
AICTE approved three-year Full-time Diploma after Class X offered by Board of Technical Education of any state in India or Union Territories as mentioned on http://www.aicte-india.org/statisticbote.php.
Candidates who took the final examination for class XII (or equivalent) outside India or from a board that is not mentioned above should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) confirming that the examination they go through is equivalent to the class XII examination conducted in India. Candidates have to submit this certificate at the time of document verification.
Application form of NID DAT 2020 is available in online mode from October 1 to November 7, 2019 without any late fee. Candidates can submit their application form in online mode by paying late fee till November 13, 2019 with late fees. The NID DAT 2019 application fee is Rs.2000 for General/OBC category candidates and Rs.1000 for SC/ST/PwD candidates. Candidates can make the payment both in online or offline mode through Demand Draft (DD). They have to prepare a DD in favour of ‘All India Management Association’ payable at New Delhi which has to be sent to the institute along with a printout of the application form. The first stage of NID DAT 2020 prelims will be held across 21 cities in India. Candidates will have to choose one centre at the time of filling the application form. National Institute of Design (NID) will announce the result of NID DAT 2020 (prelims) on March 19, 2020 in the form of a scorecard. The result can be checked in online mode only by logging in after entering their email ID and date of birth. Candidates can check their result by using the following steps:

Enter the security code reflecting on the screen
NID DAT 2020 result will appear on the screen
Download the result and take a printout of the same
The result of NID DAT 2020 will be valid only for the academic year 2019–20.
Candidates will also be awarded ranks as per their performance. The result of the second stage- mains will be announced on May 28, 2020 in the form of final result consisting of the weighted scores of both the prelims and mains. In case of candidates scoring same marks, inter-se-merit will be implemented to resolve the tie, The higher rank will be awarded to:
The candidate who will obtain higher marks in Part B of the exam.
In case of an unresolved tie, the candidate who will obtain higher marks in Part A of the Prelims exam.
If this still does not resolve the tie, then both the candidates will be given the same rank
Based on the merit list of NID DAT Prelims, eligible candidates will have to appear for DAT Mains. The number of candidates shortlisted will three times the number of seats available per category in that programme.
The final merit list of NID DAT 2020 post mains exam will be released in last week of May. It will be released category wise, based on the sum total of the weighted scores obtained by the candidate at each stage of the admission process. The tiebreaker methodology will be used in a given manner:
Candidates who will secure higher marks in DAT Mains will receive the higher rank.
Candidate who will secure higher marks in Stage 1 Design Aptitude Test will be given the higher rank
Candidate who would get higher marks in Stage 1 Design Aptitude Test Part B will be awarded the higher rank.
In case of an unresolved tie, the higher rank will be given to candidate who will obtain higher marks in Stage 1 Design Aptitude Test Part A
Finally higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who will obtain higher marks in the DAT Mains exam with maximum marks.
NID DAT 2020 cutoff is the qualifying marks that candidates need to secure to get admission to UG design programmes. Candidates will be shortlisted based on the cutoff marks for each category.
