All India Entrance Examination for Design (AIEED)

AIEED 2019 is a national level exam conducted by the ARCH Academy of Design for admission to undergraduate courses available at their Delhi and Jaipur campuses. The exam is conducted on various dates for admission to fashion and design programmes and is held in two stages - General Ability Test (GAT) and Creative Ability Test (CAT). ARCH Academy of Design released the application form of All India Entrance Examination for Design on October 1, 2018. AIEED 2019 May session will be held from May 1 to 15 (stage 1) and May 2 to 19 (stage 2). AIEED 2019 April session was conducted from April 1 to 20 (stage 1) and April 2 to 24, 2019 (stage 2). The March session of AIEED was scheduled from March 14 to 30 (stage 1) and March 15 to April 3, 2019 (stage 2). AIEED 2019 stage I for February session was held in online mode from February 20 to 28, which consists of General Aptitude Test (GAT). The second stage was held from February 21 to March 4, 2019, which consists of Creative Aptitude Test (CAT).  The January session of AIEED 2019 was held from January 15 to 30. AIEED 2019 was conducted in three stages from December 1 to 30, 2018. In the first stage of AIEED 2019, candidates have to appear for the General Aptitude Test (GAT). The second stage of the exam was Creative Aptitude Test (CAT), for which candidates had to appear on the same day. The third stage of AIEED comprises interaction over skype. AIEED 2019 result is declared at least seven days after the conclusion of all the stages of the examination.

Students have to fulfill the eligibility criteria to give the AIEED 2019

• Student must have cleared 10+2 grade through CBSE or ICSE or IB or State Board or any other board equivalent to the ones mentioned above as per UGC guidelines. Any student appearing for 12th grade exam can also write AIEED 2019. Students who have cleared the first round of NID or NIFT or NATA are eligible to apply directly for the Interaction and Portfolio round.
• Class 10+1 students can also give AIEED 2019. Student, if qualified, will be eligible for direct admission in the academic year 2020 after clearing the last stage of AIEED 2019.
• Students who have cleared PTE Exam (Academics) within 1 year of course commencement are eligible to give the AIEED 2019.

The application form of AIEED 2019 was available from October 1, 2018 in online mode. Students had to pay a non-refundable application fee of Rs 3000 either through online method of debit/credit card, internet banking, and demand draft or through the offline method of cash payment.

AIEED GAT Exam Pattern

Stage 1 of the AIEED 2019 is the General Ability Test(GAT), which has to be given by each student and is only available through the online mode. The duration of AIEED GAT 2019 is 2 hours and the student must select one of the  slots given below:

• 10:00 am to 12:00 Noon
• 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm
• 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm

The test examines individual's general ability and comprehension through multiple choice questions with no negative marking.  

AIEED CAT Exam Pattern

AIEED CAT 2019 is the second stage of the AIEED and is given by students who have passed the GAT. The duration of the test is 3 hours and it can be given online or offline at one of the designated test centers. The exam will happen within three days of GAT and it assesses the student's logical reasoning, creativity skills along with design sensitivity.  

Admit card of AIEED 2019 was available to the student a week before the entrance exam. A print out of the admit card must be carried by the student to the test center. AIEED admit card is an important document and will also be needed during the personal interview and admission to the design courses. 

Result of AIEED GAT 2019 was announced after seven days from the test date. The qualified students had to appear for the second stage, which is AIEED CAT 2019. The authorities probably informed the candidates about the result of AIEED 2019 through SMS.  Candidates who were selected had to appear for the AIEED 2019 counselling.  

Mode of Counselling: Online, Offline

Candidates who qualified the two stages of AIEED 2019 - GAT and CAT  appeared for the counselling process. Candidates had to carry attested copies of the requested documents for AIEED counselling. An interview was also held on the same day along with the verification of the submitted documents. The result of the interview was announced on the same day by ARCH Academy of Design.

Selection of students to the undergraduate design programmes at ARCH Academy of Design is strictly done on merit basis. The cumulative performance of the student in all the parameters given below are taken into consideration for the final selection:

• Performance in past education like 10+2th grade, 10th grade etc
• AIEED 2019 exam score in GAT and CAT
• Performance in the Interview along with the Portfolio showcased by the student
