About CEED 2023
CEED 2023: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay conducts the Common Entrance Exam for Design (CEED) to shortlist students for M.Des and Ph.D. admission offered by IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, and IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorkee, and IISc Bangalore as well as IIITDM Jabalpur. IIT Bombay, the conducting body will release the CEED 2023 exam dates along with the official notification in the first week of September 2022.
CEED 2023 registration form will be available from the second week of September 2022 to the second week of November 2022, on the official website - ceed.iitb.ac.in. Design aspirants are required to meet the stated CEED exam eligibility criteria before filling out the application form.
This year, the CEED exam 2023 is expected to be held in the last week of January 2023 from 9 am to 12 noon. The examination cell will conduct the CEED exam in 24 national cities. The Common Entrance Exam for Design 2023 scorecard is valid for a period of one year from the date of declaration of the result.
What is the CEED exam?
Common Entrance Exam for Design is a design entrance exam conducted by IIT Bombay to offer admission to the aspirants in various M.Des and Ph.D. programs at CEED participating institutes. CEED exam is conducted at the national level once a year in 24 cities across the nation. CEED exam 2023 consists of two papers - Part A and Part B. Part A is a computer-based test on Aptitude and math while Part B is a paper-based test with questions on drawing. CEED -qualified students can apply for admission to the CEED exam participating institutes and other result-sharing institute.
This year around 5,500+ students were registered for the CEED exam. In 2019, 5491 candidates appeared for the exam out of which only 1179 candidates qualified. In 2018, a total of 5,507 students appeared for the exam out of which 1,003 students qualified for admission. Aspirants wishing to study in top IITs are advised to have a feasible CEED exam preparation strategy to crack the entrance exam easily.

The CEED 2023 admit card will be released tentatively in the second week of January 2023 on the official website (ceed.iitb.ac.in). Candidates can download the admit card by providing the required login credentials. The last date to raise changes against any discrepancy in the CEED exam hall ticket will be the second week of January 2023 through ceed@iitb.ac.in. It is mandatory to carry the CEED exam 2023 admit card along with a valid identity card to the test centres for verification purposes.
Last year, the authority has not officially released the Common Entrance Exam for Design cutoff. But, they released the mean and standard deviation on its official website. As per last year's data, the mean and standard deviation for Part-A (CEED 2023) are expected to be 18.62 and 11.93 respectively. It is mandatory for the aspirants to meet the minimum qualifying mark to clear CEED 2023 exam.
The draft answer key for the CEED exam 2023 along with the question paper and response sheet will be released in the last week of January 2023. Candidates can challenge the CEED 2023 answer key after they found any discrepancy on it by the end of January 2023. The CEED exam 2023 response sheet download page was inactive and the pdf file was automatically deleted from the server after two months.
The CEED 2023 result will be declared tentatively in the first week of March 2023. CEED exam-qualified aspirants can gain admission in IITB, IITD, IITG, IITH, IITR, IITK, IISc Bangalore, and IIITDM Jabalpur.
CEED Exam Admission Process
The CEED 2023 selection process consists of five steps. Below are the steps that students should follow as part of the admission process for the Common Entrance Exam for Design 2023.
Revised CEED syllabus (Effective from 2024)
IIT Bombay has introduced changes in the syllabus and exam structure for CEED entrance exams. The revised syllabus and structure of CEED will be effective from 2024.
As per the new paper structure of CEED, the question paper will consist of 2 parts - Part A and Part B.
- Part A will be administered through a computer-based test and will consist of three sections such as NAT, MSQ, and MCQ.
- Part B will have two questions: one is drawing and the other is design aptitude.
- The question in Part B will be displayed on the computer screen and the answer should be written/ drawn only in the answer book provided by the supervisor.
- The duration of Part B is 60 minutes.

Common Entrance Exam for Design eligibility criteria consists of parameters like age, nationality, academic qualifications, etc. that are used to check if a candidate is suitable to pursue the programmes offered by the participating institutes. IIT Bombay will release the CEED 2023 application form in the second week of September 2022, in online mode and it will be closed in the second week of November 2022. With a late fee of Rs 500, the CEED exam 2023 application form will be closed in the third week of November 2022.
The application procedure is online where candidates have to register first, followed by entering personal and academic details, uploading documents, and finally making the payment. A total of three exam centres in the order of the candidate's preference have to be entered during registration.

- Dyslexic candidates are required to additionally obtain a certificate from the Principal / Head of the College / Institution (.pdf file)
- PwD candidates requiring compensatory time during the exam need to upload a request letter as per Appendix 10 (.pdf file).
- Candidates whose name is not the same as the name on the degree/diploma certificate should produce a gazette notification, a marriage certificate, or scanned pages of the passport showing the change of name (.pdf file).

Some important guidelines:
- All candidates are provided scribble pads for rough work to be done for Part A. These have to be returned at the end of the Part A exam.
- Colour pencils, crayons, sketch pens, etc. may be used for Part B unless otherwise specified in the questions.
- Charts, graph sheets, tables, calculators, cellular phones, and other electronic gadgets are not allowed to be carried into the exam hall.

The CEED 2023 final answer key and the question paper will be released in online mode tentatively at the end of January 2023. The Common Entrance Exam for Design final answer key will be available in a pdf format.
Before that, the authority will release the draft CEED exam answer key in the last week of January 2023 along with a response sheet and question paper. How is the CEED exam score calculated?
Final CEED score = 25% weightage to Part A + 75% weightage to Part B .

Last year, the IIT Bombay did not officially release the CEED cutoff. However, the cutoff marks are determined by certain parameters. As per the previous year's cutoff, the expected qualifying CEED 2023 marks in Part-A will be 24.58 for OPEN category candidates, 22.12 marks for OBC/ EWS, and 12.29 marks for SC/ ST/ PwD category candidates.
Based on the last year's data, the mean and standard deviation for Part-A (CEED 2023) are expected to be 18.62 and 11.93 respectively.
CEED 2023 cutoff is usually specified for part A of the exam which is used to shortlist candidates for part B. The cutoff of the Common Entrance Exam for Design for the entire exam or part B is not released by the authorities.

- The cut-off for Part A (δ) marks to shortlist candidates in the open category:
μ + (σ⁄2) = δ, where μ and σ are the average mark and standard deviation of the distribution of marks obtained by ALL the candidates in Part-A of CEED 2023. The μ and σ will be rounded off to two decimal places. - Cut-offs for the OBC-NCL category will be0.9δ of the Open category
- Cutoffs for SC, ST, and PWD category candidates will be 0.5δ of the Open category.
CEED 2023 Counselling
CEED 2023 Counselling - There is no common counselling for admissions through Common Entrance Exam for Design 2023. Instead, students must apply separately to the institute of their choice from the given participating institutes on the basis of their CEED exam scores if they meet the specific eligibility criteria of each. The authority releases the ranks based on the seat allotment lists.

Although various factors are considered while deciding the cut offs like number of candidates appearing in the examination, number of vacant seats in college, previous years cut offs and difficulty level of the paper.

With reference to yoru above mentioned query, i would like to tell you that yes, the CEED/GATE scores are mandatory for CPDM DAT exam .
CPDM IISc. Eligiblity for admission to M Des programme is a basic degree in engineering or architecture. Selection for admission is based on performance in a design aptitude test (DAT) and interview conducted at the centre. Shortlisting for DAT is done on the basis of appliacant's CEED or GATE score .

Under CEED Institute which offered M.des to the candidates with Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Architecture / Design/ Interior Design or equivalent (4 years duration after 10+2) not allowed candidates with B.A or b.sc but you can do Mdes in IIT Hyderabad they offer course after completing Master’s degree in Arts / Science / Computer Applications (2 year programme after10+2+3).
