NID DAT 2024: The National Institute of Design conducts NID Design Aptitude Test (NID DAT) for the aspirants seeking B.Des and M.Des admission at NID campuses and other result-sharing institutes. The NID DAT application form 2024 with late fee is available till December 7. The application form for NID DAT 2024 is available only in online mode at admissions.nid.edu. he authority concluded the registration process for NID entrance exam 2024 without late fee on December 5. 

The NID DAT 2024 application correction window will be open from December 8 to 10. After the closure of the NID DAT 2024 application window, the authority will open the correction window to review and edit the NID DAT exam application form except for the candidate's name, date of birth, programme applied in, registered mobile number, and email address. 

Applicants have to pay the applicable additional application form fees if they change their applied category during the “Window to Edit” period (December 5 to 7, 2023). In the case of any category change, the excess fee paid during the registration will not be refunded. NID DAT 2024 prelims exam will be held on December 24, 2024, in pen and paper mode in 24 national cities. The duration of the NID DAT 2024 prelims exam is 3 hours (10 AM to 1 PM). The admit card for the NID DAT 2024 prelims exam will be issued on December 12, 2024.

What is NID DAT?

NID Design Aptitude Test commonly known as NID DAT is a two-tier design entrance test that consists of a prelims exam and a mains exam. The entrance test is conducted every year at the national level to shortlist students for B.Des and M.Des admission offered by NIDs campuses. NID DAT is conducted to assess candidates' knowledge, skill, and behavioural abilities. NID admission is wholly based on candidates' performance in NID DAT.

The 4-year BDes programmes are offered at NID Ahmedabad, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Assam. Whereas 2-year MDes programmes are offered at NID Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Bengaluru. 

NID DAT Exam Analysis

According to the last year's DAT aspirants and experts, the overall difficulty level of the exam was moderate. Most candidates found the pictorial and diagram sections to be very tricky, however, the general knowledge section is easy to moderate.

As per the eligibility criteria of NID DAT 2024, the candidates must meet the age limit, educational qualifications, and qualifying exam accepted by NID. Educational Qualifications

• B.Des Programme - Candidates must have passed 12th standard in any stream ( Science , Humanities , Commerce ) from CBSE , IB, ICSE , or equivalent recognized board. Candidates appearing for Class 12 exams in 2024 are also eligible to apply.

• M.Des Programme - Candidates must have completed Bachelor's degree from a recognized college/ university. Candidates must not exceed 30 years of age as on June 30, 2024.

Age Limit

• Candidates up to 20 years of age on or before 30th June 2004 are eligible to apply. For reserved category candidates, an age relaxation of three years is available. PwD category candidates born on or after 1st July 1999 are eligible to apply for admission

The application form window for NID DAT 2024 was commenced on September 8, 2023. The NID DAT 2024 registration form is available only in online mode - admissions.nid.edu. Candidates can fill out the online application form for NID DAT 2024 with a regular fee by December 5, 2023.

Last year, the authority did not release the NID DAT answer key for the prelims and mains exam. The authority will announce the NID DAT 2024 prelims result for BDes and MDes separately. For DAT MDes, the prelims result will be declared February 16, 2024 and for BDes, the NID DAT prelims result will be out on March 28, 2024.

The National Institute of Design will conduct counselling for NID DAT 2024 to offer admission to the shortlisted candidates. Candidates will be receiving a provisional offer of admission from the respective NIDs institute.
