NID DAT 2023: Seat Allotment Round 1 (Out), B.DES, M.DES Mains Results, Cutoff, Top Colleges, Seat Matrix, Admit Card (Link), Eligibility

NID DAT 2023: The National Institute of Design conducts NID Design Aptitude Test (NID DAT) for the aspirants seeking B.Des and M.Des admission at NID campuses and other result-sharing institutes. The authority announced the mains result for NID BDes admission 2023 on May 19, 2023, at 4 PM. Candidates can check their NID DAT 2023 results at admissions.nid.edu. Round 1 seat allotment result for NID BDes admission has been released on May 25, 2023, in online mode. The seat confirmation, document uploading, and fee payment takes place by May 31, 2023. Submission of campus preference from May 19 to 22, 2023.

Earlier, the authority declared the MDes mains result for NID admission 2023 on May 18, in online mode. For MDes students, they can pay the tuition fee for the confirmation of a seat & upload the document by May 31. The DAT mains exam rechecking window for NID MDes admission 2023 is active from May 18 to 19, 2023

The NID DAT 2023 mains exam for B.Des was conducted on April 30, 2023. The admit card for the same has been issued on April 14, 2023. Candidates can download the NID 2023 BDes mains admit card by entering their Email ID and DOB.

The candidates have been provided with an interface on admissions.nid.edu to select a test centre of their choice between April 3 to 5, up to 4 pm. Earlier, the result of NID DAT 2023 for the B.Des prelims exam has been declared on March 16, 2023. Candidates can recheck their NID DAT B.Des Prelims exam results from March 17 to 20, 2023. 

The authority issued the admit card of NID 2023 for M.Des mains on March 7, 2023. NID DAT Mains 2023 for MDes was held from March 20 to April 20, 2023, in HYBRID mode on the NID campus.

For M.Des, the NID 2023 result was out on February 28. NID DAT 2023 prelims exam was held on January 8, 2023, in pen and paper mode in 24 national cities. The duration of the NID DAT 2023 prelims exam is 3 hours (10 AM to 1 PM). Earlier, NID issued the NID 2023 admit card for DAT prelims on January 2, 2023, on the official website admissions.nid.edu. 

Aspirants can able to download the NID DAT 2023 admit card by providing the required login details. It is mandatory for candidates to carry the NID 2023 admit card along with a valid identity card to the test centres for verification purposes. 

The authority opened the application window for NID Entrance Exam 2023 on October 21, 2022. The NID DAT 2023 registration process with a regular fee was closed on December 22, 2022, at 4 PM. Candidates who missed out on the opportunity to fill out the NID DAT 2023 application form within the last date, can fill it out by December 25 by paying the late fee. 

The correction window of the NID DAT 2023 application form has been opened on December 25, at 4 PM and it was closed on December 27, 2022, at 4 PM. Applicants can review and edit the NID DAT 2023 application form except for the candidate's name, date of birth, programme applied in, registered mobile number, and email address. 

Applicants have to pay the applicable additional application form fees if they change their applied category during the “Window to Edit” period. In the case of any category change, the excess fee paid during the registration will not be refunded.

What is NID DAT?

NID Design Aptitude Test commonly known as NID DAT is a two-tier design entrance test that consists of a prelims exam and a mains exam. The entrance test is conducted every year at the national level to shortlist students for B.Des and M.Des admission offered by NIDs campuses. NID DAT is conducted to assess candidates' knowledge, skill, and behavioural abilities. NID admission is wholly based on candidates' performance in NID DAT. 

The 4-year BDes programmes are offered at NID Ahmedabad, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Assam. Whereas 2-year MDes programmes are offered at NID Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Bengaluru. 

NID DAT Exam Analysis

According to the last year's DAT aspirants and experts, the overall difficulty level of the exam was moderate. Most candidates found the pictorial and diagram section to be very tricky, however, the general knowledge section is easy to moderate.

Another student said, “The NID DAT questions were quite lengthy and were moderate. However, I attempted all the questions and the reasonable and logical part was easy”.

As per the eligibility criteria of NID DAT 2023, candidates have to meet the age limit, educational qualifications, and the qualifying exam that is accepted by NID. B.Des - Candidates should clear Class 12 from any stream ( Science , Humanities , Commerce ) from a recognized board such as CBSE , IB, ICSE , or their equivalent. Candidates appearing for Class 12 exams in 2023 are also eligible to apply.

M.Des - Candidates should complete a bachelor’s degree course from a recognized college/university. Candidates should not be more than 30 years of age as of June 30, 2023.

The authority opened the correction window of the NID DAT 2023 application form on December 25. The last date for editing the application form for NID DAT 2023 ended on December 27 at 4 PM.

Earlier, the NID DAT 2023 application window with a regular fee was closed on December 22, 2022. Candidates can fill out the registration form for NID DAT 2023 with a late fee by December 25. Candidates belonging to general and OBC-NCL categories have to pay Rs 3000 as an application fee while those who are from SC, ST, SC- PwD, ST – PwD, Open – PwD, OBC – NCL – PwD pay Rs 1500. National Institute of Design will conduct counselling for NID DAT 2023 to offer admission to the shortlisted candidates. All candidates who qualify for NID DAT 2023 which includes prelims and mains exams can participate in the counselling process. Candidates will be receiving a provisional offer of admission from the respective NIDs institute.
