About NIFT Entrance Exam 2023
NIFT Entrance Exam 2023 - The National Institute of Fashion Technology conducts the NIFT 2023 entrance exam for admission to B.Des, BF.Tech, M.Des, MFM, and MFTech at NIFT campuses. NIFT 2023 will be conducted tentatively in the first week of February 2023, in Online-Remote Proctored mode. As per the schedule, the NIFT entrance exam 2023 for BDes, BFTech, MFTech, and MFM will start at 10 am, and for MDes, it will begin at 2.30 pm.
The NIFT 2023 application form will be available from the first week of December 2022 and it will be closed in the third week of January 2023. Candidates can fill out the registration form for the NIFT entrance exam at nift.ac.in. In order to complete the NIFT exam 2023 registration, candidates have to pay an application fee of Rs. 3000 (Rs. 1500 for SC/ ST) in online mode.
If the applicants miss the opportunity to complete the application form by the closing date, they can pay a late fee of Rs. 5000 and submit it within the last week of January 2023. Candidates must meet the stated NIFT 2023 eligibility criteria to appear in the NIFT entrance exam. Successfully registered candidates can download the NIFT exam 2023 admit card from the last week of January 2023.

The NIFT 2023 entrance exam result for the B.Des and B.FTech written exam will be declared in the second week of March 2023 and the final result will be announced in the third week of May 2023.
NIFT admission is wholly based on the candidate's performance in the NIFT entrance exam. B.Des and M.Des candidates have to appear in the Creative Ability Test (CAT), General Ability Test (GAT), and Situation Test/ GD/ PI. Both CAT and GAT exams will be conducted on the same day in Online-Remote Proctored mode.
However, CAT and GAT qualified candidates are only eligible to appear in the NIFT 2023 situation test. Aspirants seeking admission in B.Tech candidates have to appear only in the GAT exam. MFM candidates need to clear both GAT and GD/ PI rounds to gain admission across NIFT campuses.
NIFT 2023 counselling will be conducted to fill 4,517 UG and PG design seats for the NIFT-qualified candidates. Students appearing in the NIFT entrance exam need to secure the minimum NIFT Cut off to gain admission at NIFT campuses. The cutoff is the last merit rank in which candidates are offered design course admission in seventeen NIFT campuses.
What is NIFT Entrance Exam?
National Institute of Fashion Technology entrance exam commonly known as the NIFT entrance exam is conducted at a national level to shortlist candidates for admission in design programmes namely - Bachelor of Design (B.Des), Bachelor of Fashion Technology (BFTech), Master of Design (M.Des), Master of Fashion Management (MFM), and Master of Fashion Technology (MFTech).
A total of 4,517 UG and PG design seats are offered to the NIFT-qualified candidates. In NIFT, aspirants are judged based on their knowledge, skill, and aptitude for the chosen programme.

Important information regarding NIFT 2023 eligibility criteria
- Students who will appear in the final year of the qualifying examination can also take NIFT 2023.
- If the result of class 12/ final semester/ final year is still unannounced by the respective university/ board till the NIFT admission procedure, then such a candidate will be given provisional admission subject to these conditions:
- The final result of the qualifying result should be presented before September 30, 2023.
- Affidavit (duly signed) of Rs. 10 on non-judicial stamp paper
- Those students will be considered for provisional admission and will appear for the compartment exam of class 12. It is mandatory to pass the exam under the same board.

- Step 4- Make the payment - Applicants have to pay the requisite fee online mode using a net banking/ credit/ debit card. The application fee for candidates who belong to general/ OBC (Non-creamy) categories is Rs. 2000 while those who fall under SC/ ST/ PHP categories will have to pay Rs. 1000.
- Step 5- Submission of application form - Applicants should not forget to keep a printout/photocopy of the NIFT 2023 application form for future reference, along with proof of payment.
Window to update/ edit NIFT Entrance Exam Application Form
The authority will provide an opportunity for candidates to correct the information in their application if needed. Candidates, however, can not change the NIFT exam centre later once it was filled. If the application form is found ineligible for NIFT 2023 admissions after editing it, the application fee already paid will not be refunded and the candidature of an applicant will be cancelled.

NIFT Entrance Exam B.F.Tech Exam Pattern
The exam pattern of NIFT entrance exam 2021 for the Creative Ability Test namely CAT is not clearly specified by the authorities. The total number of questions and the marking scheme is not clearly specified by the authorities.
Candidates must focus on concept development and design as questions will be designed to test them in these areas. They must be creative and make innovative use of their colour and illustration skills.
Generally three questions are asked for a total of 30 marks and candidates are tested accordingly.
NIFT Entrance Exam M.Des Exam Pattern
NIFT 2021 Situation Test will be conducted for the shortlisted candidates of CAT and GAT for B.Des admissions. This will be held separately for those who have qualified. The situation test is a hands-on test used to evaluate the candidate’s skills for material handling as well as the innovative ability in a given situation with a given set of materials.
The Exam Pattern of the Situation Test can be summarised as follows:
- Duration: two hours
- Test involves: Design of one three dimensional (3D) model.
Note: Candidates will be provided with all the required design materials which should be checked by them upon receipt.
Some guidelines:
- Candidates will be permitted to bring some items as instructed in the admit card
- They must make optimum usage of the same. Additional materials will not be provided.
- Colour pencils and marker pens are not allowed.
- An Answer Sheet will be provided separately for any writing purposes which has to be signed by the candidates in the exam hall.
- After completion of the test, the model, answer sheet and any left over materials must be left by the candidates on the table.
Evaluation Criteria for the NIFT Situation Test 2021 are as follows:

NIFT Counselling Procedure 2023
- Candidates will be required to register using the form number, DOB, and password. A NIFT 2023 counselling campus will also to be selected from where it’s convenient to participate in the admission procedure. A system-generated SMS and an email will be sent to them after a successful registration.
- Candidates will be called for the NIFT 2023 counselling procedure solely on a merit basis. They have to select a seat in presence of the nodal officer.
- After the allocation of the seat, the candidate has to make payment of the full fee at the NIFT campus. The nodal officer will issue him/her an allotment letter/receipt.

In 2022 NIFT Entrance Examination was conducted in 32 cities. The candidates have to select the preference of the examination cities while filling the application form. Based on the availability, preferences of the examination cities you will be allotted an examination center. You have to appear for NIFT Entrance Examination in the allotted examination center as per the given schedule. You can select any city where examination is conducted while filling your preferences, make sure that you select the cities such that you can commute on the day of examination easily. Next year the list of examination cities may increase or decrease, the cities may vary.
