MIT Institute of Design launches MBA in Design Management
The MIT Institute of DesignPune launched its new course on MBA in Design Management. MITID has commenced the application process for the two years full time programme. The last date to submit the application form is March 30, 2017. The selection of candidates will be done on the basis of design aptitude test followed by studio test and interview.
According to the institute, students will be able to learn latest design methods combined with real life case studies and applications from the business world. Speaking about the launch of MBA in Design Management, Anant Chakradeo, Dean, MITID said, “The MBA in Design Management program at MITID aims to produce leaders for business and society who can leverage the power of Design for business value creation, positive social impact and overall economic growth. The course aims to nurture design leaders who are provided a practical knowledge of design implementation in sync with best business practices”.
The course will teach subjects like Design methods and approaches, Design and Innovation, Industry domain exposure/Internship, Supply Chain Management, Brand experience and many others to make the students industry ready.
Students must have completed 3 years bachelor degree to apply for the course. Work experience or prior exposure to design is preferred. The students have to clear the admission process. It will have three levels which are:

There are total of 15 seats in MBA in Design Management course for which students are required to qualify the design aptitude test. The selection of specialization will be done by students at the time of admission. They must have the required skills for the discipline they want to opt.

No, there is no mathematics subjects in the syllabus of MITID DAT exam , it's syllabus includes
- Logical reasoning.
- General knowledge.
- Observation skills.

The entrance test to be cleared for getting admission into MITID is known as DAT (Design Aptitude Test).The exam pattern is such that there would be both subjective and objective questions in the exam.Besides this, there is no clear pattern on the number and type of questions.
There are two phases for MIT entrance test.
Phase 1 : Written exam for 100 marks for 3 hours.
The DAT tests each students ability in Design Problem Solving, Visual Sense,Observation &Perception, Mental Ability, Communication Skills, and Environmental Awareness through a range of visual and textual questions.Based on the scores obtained in this test, the qualified and short listed candidates are called for the second phase.
Phase 2 : Consists of Studio test, Personel Interview, Portfolio presentation.
The studio test consists of three parts- doodling, 3D modelling, observation tests. The second phase is conducted at the MITID campus at Pune. Candidates clearing the studio test and personel interview can then secure admission at MITID in Bdes and Mdes programs offered by it.
