National Institute of Design (NID) conducted the first stage of Design Aptitude Test (DAT) 2018- Prelims, on January 7 for filling 100 B.Design seats in its Ahmedabad campus. The three-hour long national level design entrance exam concluded at 1 PM across 23 test cities. Test-takers were assessed on their knowledge, skills and behavioural abilities.

The NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Prelims 2018 primarily evaluated each candidate on the following abilities-
NID DAT 2018 Prelims consisted of two parts:
Part I - Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) marked out of 70 points. The responses of this part had to be recorded on an OMR sheet and evaluated digitally.
Part II - Subjective questions marked out of 30 points, with responses to be provided in visual and/or written formats.
The institute will release the answer key of NID DAT 2018 on January 12, 2018 (11 AM). Candidates can challenge the answer key in online mode between January 18 (11 AM) and 19 (4 PM). NID DAT 2018 final answer keys will be uploaded on January 30. National Institute of Design will announce the NID DAT result of prelims on March 13, 2018 (4 PM).

Admissions to all of the programmes will be granted on the basis of a two-stage competitive exam- Prelims and Mains. Meritorious candidates will be given admissions to four-year long eight undergraduate design programmes. The NID DAT Mains stage for shortlisted candidates will be conducted from May 15 to 22, 2018.

The percentile score required to qualify NID DAT 2020 is 45 for SC category. According to last year qualifying cut off the percentile required for clearing the test was 40 for SC students.
Percentile is calculated as follows :
Let your rank be 60 and the total number of candidates were 2000 then your percentile will be,
(2000- 60)/2000 *100 = 97
The cut off marks will depend on the number of candidates appearing for the exam.
NID DAT 2020 cutoff has not been released by the authorities yet. You can go through the link below and check the previous year cutoff for reference:
NID DAT MAINS will include drawing as well as sculpture or model making. It will be a three hour paper and the maximum marks that cam be obtained is 100. Unlike the prelims, it will not be in different parts of contain any objective type of aptitude based questions. It will purely be skill based. Hope that answers your query.
