The Indian government is also encouraging the gaming sector's potential for job creation. The government has formed an “Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics” (AVGC) task force under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. This task force is created to promote the booming sector of animation studios, VFX Studios, game development studios and platforms, etc. The government's self-regulation proposal for the industry and The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s (MeitY) nodal role will foster innovation ensuring responsible practices.

Scope Of Career In Gaming

Companies like Dream Sports and Games24x7 achieved great success. Experts predict that India could see many more successful gaming companies in the next five years. However, the government regulations and charges might cause some inconvenience to future players in the industry. Some states have banned fantasy sports, and there's an ongoing debate about whether games are based on skill or chance. This creates difficulties for smaller companies to get funding. Though the graph of the gaming industry is on the rise as it is loved by a large number of people in India.

Educational Requirements: Students who completed their class 12 from the science stream can do an undergraduate programme in game design.

Gaming Artist

About: Game artists are essential in video game development, providing diverse 2D(two-dimensional) and 3D(three-dimensional) visual styles. They use their digital art skills to give colour, texture etc to enhance the overall appeal of the game. The entry-level salary of a gaming artist ranges from Rs 3 LPA to Rs 4 LPA.

Educational Requirements: Students who have successfully completed their classes can enrol themselves in BFA(Bachelor of Fine Arts). Many undergraduate courses are specifically designed with a B.Sc (Bachelor of Science) or BA(Bachelor of Arts) in Game Art and Design.

Gaming Animator

About: The gaming animation puts life and movement into 2D and 3D images of the game. They use various animation software tools to put the game's characters in motion. The average starting salary of a gaming animator is around Rs 3LPA.

Educational Requirements: Students who have successfully completed their class 12 from any stream can pursue their dream to become pursuing an undergraduate degree with a Bachelor of Design or Bachelor of Arts in animation.

Gaming Sound Designer

About: After applying animation to the characters, the game gets through, the voice of the character, music or other audio effects. These sound sensations are provided by gaming sound designers. The average salary of a gaming sound designer is around Rs 3.5 LPA.

Educational Requirements: Students who have completed their class 12 with science stream can pursue a BSc in sound engineering or sound design. Interested candidates from other streams can also apply for BA in sound design.

Gaming Coder or Programmer

About: Game coders or programmers make the idea of designers to reality by using programming languages like C# or C++. Coders work on the back end of gaming platforms to create an enjoyable player experience. The entry-level salary of a gaming coder or programmer ranges from Rs 3.5 LPA to Rs 4.5 LPA.

Educational Requirements: Students who have successfully completed their class 12 with science stream can pursue a Bachelor Of Computer Applications or Bachelor of Technology(B.Tech) in Computer Science to be eligible for this job role.

Gaming Quality Assurance Tester

About: Quality assurance (QA) testers inspect the games thoroughly and check for bugs and issues. They then create detailed reports for developers to fix. They also assess program bugs, spelling errors, graphics, audio glitches, and copyright concerns. QA testers ensure a smooth gaming experience by resolving problems effectively. The average salary of a QA game tester can range from Rs 5 LPA to 6 LPA.

Educational Requirements: Students who have passed their class 12 exam with science stream can pursue a BCA or BTech in Computer Application. Prior knowledge of gaming is an add in this case.

After the game is ready with great audio-visuals, a smooth interface, and proper testing, the product manager oversees the entire video game lifecycle, ensuring alignment with company goals and managing teams of designers. The marketing personnel finally deals networks with media channels, and social media influencers to introduce and promote the gaming platform to users.

Traditionally taking science in Class 12 and pursuing an undergraduate course were the only options to enter the world of the gaming industry. But now this skill-based industry has opened gates for students with a diploma and PG diploma courses in gaming-related fields after Class 10, Class 12, and even after their undergraduate degree.
