    National Institute of Fashion Technology will announce the NIFT 2026 seat allotment for round 1 on June 27, 2026, on its official website - nift.admissions.nic.in. All the shortlisted candidates with the seat allotment will have to submit their willingness letter and complete the admission fee by July 1, 2026. The NIFT seat withdrawal guidelines and the last date to submit the withdrawal request details have been notified on its official website. The last date to submit seat withdrawal requests is July 17, 2026. The NIFT 2026 counselling will be conducted in three rounds, followed by a spot round. Only those candidates who clear the NIFT cutoff for each round will be offered a seat allotment. The NIFT seat allotment 2026 will be done based on ranks in the NIFT 2026 and the campus preferences given by the candidates. The NIFT 2026 round 1 counselling registrations have been closed on June 22, 2026. Earlier, the NIFT 2026 final result was declared on June 3.     Documents Required for NIFT 2026 Seat Allocation

    • 12th class/ degree (Marksheet and Certificate). In case of admission to PG courses, the candidates will also be required to upload the Marksheet and degree certificate of the qualifying degree examination. In case the candidate has appeared in the final semester/final year (as applicable), then he/she will have to upload the mark sheet of all the previous semester/years.
    • In case the candidate has appeared for qualifying exam/ compartment (of final year/semester) and the result is due, the date sheet/admit card for the examination is to be uploaded. Proof of completion of the previous year’s paper in the qualifying degree/examination.
    • Date of birth proof (Secondary school marksheet & certificate) (photocopy).
    • Category certificate (if applicable).
    • For State Domicile seats, the status of domicile will be decided by the address of the school from which the candidate has completed the 12th standard.
    • Applicable domicile certificate for candidates under the Kashmiri Migrants category. These candidates can opt for only one state for claiming Domicile, which can be either Kashmir or the state from which they passed class 12
    • Medical Fitness certificate signed by a registered medical practitioner in the prescribed format.

    What After NIFT 2026 Seat Allotment Process?

    Once the NIFT 2026 seat allocation result is out, candidates must follow the steps given below:

    • View Seat Allotment Result and Download Provisional Allotment Letter - During this step, candidates who have been allotted a seat will view the seat allotment result and download the provisional allotment letter.
    • Submit willingness - During this step, candidates have to choose Float, Slide or Freeze, indicating their willingness and also make an online payment of the admission fee. During this step, the candidate will pay an admission fee to confirm his/her allotted seat. In case he/she doesn’t pay the required fee within the time frame, his/her allotted seat will be cancelled and not allowed to participate in the subsequent rounds of seat allocation except the SPOT Round.
    • Seat Withdrawal - A candidate whose allotted seat has been confirmed and wants to cancel his/her allotted seat and seek the refund of the fee, will withdraw the allotted seat online during the specified period. Vacancy due to Seat Rejection/Non-Payment of Fee/Withdrawal. Vacancies will be generated due to Seat Rejection/Non-payment of fee/Withdrawal.

    When accepting the seat online, a candidate needs to choose one of the following options. This choice will determine their preference for the academic program in the upcoming rounds of seat allocation.

    • Float: This option is for candidates who want to retain their allotted seat but also wish to upgrade it. They can opt for this choice.
    • Freeze: If a candidate is content with the result of the NIFT seat allotment and does not wish to participate in the subsequent rounds of NIFT counselling, they can choose the freeze option.
    • Slide: Candidates who want to keep the seat allotted in a specific round but are interested in upgrading the B.Des and M.Des programme within the same NIFT participating institute can select the slide option.
    • Withdrawal: Candidates who have already accepted the allotted seat have the option to withdraw the seat by reporting at the allotted institute before the final round of NIFT seat allotment.

    NIFT Seat Withdrawal 2026

    NIFT authorities have announced the withdrawal request guidelines and the last date to submit the NIFT 2026 withdrawal requests on the official website. Along with the withdrawal guidelines, authorities have also notified the refund policy for the withdrawal requests for the mentioned timeline.     NIFT Seat Allotment 2026: State Domicile Rule

    The candidate would be determined to be the domicile of that State in which the school where the candidate has completed his/ her class 12th examination is located. State and campus mapping are as:

    • Candidates whose Domicile State is the same as the State where the Institute/school is located. 20% seats are earmarked.
    • A special quota of 35% seats in NIFT Srinagar (J&K) shall be reserved for eligible candidates of union territories of Kashmir, Ladakh, Jammu, & Kashmiri migrants.
    • Updating of personal data during the Registration Process. During Registration Process, candidate’s few personal information will be shown in read-only mode, as mentioned in the NIFT 2026 rank database.
    • Candidates will not be allowed to change nationality, category and PwD status.
    • Candidates can change their date of birth and state of domicile during registration process.
    • Candidates will opt whether they want to apply for NRI Sponsored seats.
    • Candidates are required to furnish the additional information like qualification details, contact details etc. in multiple steps form.
