About CEED 2019

Common Entrance Exam for Design (CEED) 2019 will be held by the Indian Institute of Bombay on January 19 for admissions to the masters in Design programmes offered at IIT Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kanpur, and IISc Bangalore as well as IIITDM Jabalpur.  In addition CEED scores are accepted by Anant National University, Lovely Professional University (LPU), Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) University and World University of Design (WUD). CEED 2019 consists of two papers with Part A of the exam consisting of Aptitude and Maths being a computer-based test while Part B consisting of drawing being a pen and paper based one. CEED 2019 will be held in 24 cities.

In 2018, CEED was conducted in 21 cities across the country and a total of 6,423 candidates registered while 5,507 candidates actually appeared for the exam. Of these, 1,003 candidates qualified in the exam.

CEED Eligibility Criteria consist of those parameters like age, nationality, academic qualifications etc. that are used to measure if a candidate will be considered suitable to pursue the programmes offered by the participating institutes. It may be noted that CEED 2019 eligibility criteria are applicable for the entrance test. Admission criteria may slightly vary from institute to institute hence candidates are advised to check that up before applying to the respective institutes.

CEED 2019 application form is available from October 9 to November 9, 2018. The application procedure is online where candidates have to register first, followed by entering of personal and academic details, uploading of documents and finally make payment. Candidates, who meet the specified eligibility, will be able to appear for the entrance test. A total of three exam centres in the order of the candidate's preference must be entered during registration. The steps to fill the CEED application form 2019 are as follows:

Candidates who have not been able to fill the CEED application for some reason or the other can do so from November 10 to 16, 2018 on payment of a late fee of Rs 500.

CEED 2019 Exam Pattern allows all aspirants to get a fair idea of the type of questions that may feature in the exam, marking scheme, language of the exam, mode and so on. It is pretty useful for candidates to have an understanding of the CEED exam pattern during preparation.

Some important guidelines:

  • All candidates will be provided Scribble pads for rough work to be done for Part A. These have to be returned at the end of the Part A exam.
  • Colour pencils, crayons, sketch pens etc. may be used for Part B unless otherwise specified in the questions.
  • Charts, graph sheets, tables, calculators, cellular phones and other electronic gadgets are not allowed to be carried into the exam hall.

CEED 2019 will consist of two parts where Part A is a computer based test used to evaluate candidates in visualization and spatial ability, environmental and social awareness, analytical and logical reasoning, language and creativity, observation and design sensitivity. Candidates who qualify in Part A can move further to appear for Part B which is a drawing test evaluating candidates on drawing, ceativity, communication skills and analytical and problem solving skills

CEED admit card 2019 will be available for download from January 1. Candidates will have to login to download the same. They must check the details for accuracy after downloading and carry a colour printout of the same to the exam hall along with specified valid Photo ID. 

The steps to download the CEED card are as follows:

  • Click on the link given
  • Enter the registered email ID and password.
  • The admit card will be displayed and should be downloaded
  • It should be checked for discrepancies including a blurred photo or signature which should be corrected by mailing IIT Bombay CEED office.
  • A colour printout of the admit card must be taken to the exam hall.

All candidates who have appeared for the entrance test will be able to check their CEED 2019 result on March 4 when it will be announced online by IIT Bombay. It may be noted that only qualified candidates will be able to download their score cards which will also be announced along with the CEED result. The CEED score card is valid only for a period of one year from the date of declaration of the result.

  • The score card must be kept safe till admissions are completed.

How is the CEED score calculated?

Final CEED score = 25% weightage to Part A  + 75% weightage to Part B .

CEED Answer Key 2019 will be announced on January 25. This will be the draft answer key open to challenges by students till January 31, 2019. The answer key will have the correct answers to the questions asked in the exam. It is to be noted that the CEED 2019 answer key will only be for Part A of the exam for Aptitude and Mathematics while no answer key is published for the drawing test. The final answer key for CEED 2019 will be published on February 4 after considering all challenges.

CEED 2019 cutoff is usually specified for Part A of the exam which is used to shortlist candidates for Part B of the exam. The cutoff of CEED for the entire exam or Part B  is not released by the authorities. The Category-wise minimum per cent of marks needed to qualify in CEED 2019 part A is given below
