All India Entrance Examination for Design (AIEED)

AIEED 2020 is a national level exam conducted by the ARCH Academy of Design for admission to undergraduate courses available at their Delhi and Jaipur campuses. The exam is conducted on various dates for admission to fashion and design programmes and is held in two stages - General Ability Test (GAT) and Creative Ability Test (CAT). ARCH Academy of Design released the application form of All India Entrance Examination for Design on October 1, 2019. Candidates could fill the application form till November 28, 2019. The entrance exam consists of three stages - General Aptitude Test (GAT), Creative Aptitude Test (CAT) and Interaction. AIEED 2020 for December session was conducted from December 1 to 15, 2019 while the January session was held from January 15 to 30, 2020.  AIEED 2020 result will be declared at least seven days after the conclusion of all the stages of the examination.

Students have to fulfill the eligibility criteria to give the AIEED 2020 

• Student must have cleared 10+2 grade through CBSE or ICSE or IB or State Board or any other board equivalent to the ones mentioned above as per UGC guidelines. Any student appearing for 12th grade exam can also write AIEED 2020. Students who have cleared the first round of NID or NIFT or NATA are eligible to apply directly for the Interaction and Portfolio round.
• Class 10+1 students can also give AIEED 2020. Student, if qualified, will be eligible for direct admission in the academic year 2021 after clearing the last stage of AIEED 2020.
• Students who have cleared PTE Exam (Academics) within 1 year of course commencement are eligible to give the AIEED 2020.

The application form of AIEED 2020 was available from October 1 to November 28, 2019 in online mode. Students had to pay a non-refundable application fee of Rs 3000 either through online method of debit/credit card, internet banking, and demand draft or through the offline method of cash payment.

AIEED GAT Exam Pattern

Stage 1 of the AIEED 2020 is the General Ability Test(GAT), which has to be given by each student and is only available through the online mode. The duration of AIEED GAT 2020 is 2 hours and the student must select one of the  slots given below:

• 10:00 am to 12:00 Noon
• 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm
• 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm

The test examines individual's general ability and comprehension through multiple choice questions with no negative marking.  There are 60 questions in General Aptitude Test.

AIEED CAT Exam Pattern

AIEED CAT 2020 is the second stage of the AIEED and is given by students who have passed the GAT. The duration of the test is 3 hours and it can be given online or offline at one of the designated test centers. The exam will happen within three days of GAT and it assesses the student's logical reasoning, creativity skills along with design sensitivity.  

As per the AIEED 2020 exam pattern for creative aptitude test (CAT), candidates will be analysed based on the following topics.

• Articulation skills both visual & written

• Design thinking

• Lateral thinking & Creative problem solving

• Awareness of design principles

AIEED 2020 Exam Pattern for Video, Portfolio and Personal Interaction

In this section, questions will be asked from the following topics.

• Composure

• General Articulation Skills

• Range of work in portfolio

• Focus and clarity

• Depth of thinking

Admit card of AIEED 2020 is available to the student a week before the entrance exam. A print out of the admit card must be carried by the student to the test center. AIEED admit card is an important document and will also be needed during the personal interview and admission to the design courses. 

Result of AIEED GAT 2020 will be announced after seven days from the test date. The qualified students will have  to appear for the second stage, which is AIEED CAT 2020. The authorities will probably inform the candidates about the result of AIEED 2020 through SMS.  Candidates who will be selected will have to  appear for AIEED 2020 counselling.  

Mode of Counselling: Online, Offline

Candidates who will qualify the two stages of AIEED 2020 - GAT and CAT  will have to appear for the counselling process. Candidates will have  to carry attested copies of the requested documents for AIEED counselling. An interview will  also held on the same day along with the verification of the submitted documents. The result of the interview will be announced on the same day by ARCH Academy of Design.

Selection of students to the undergraduate design programmes at ARCH Academy of Design is strictly done on merit basis. The cumulative performance of the student in all the parameters given below are taken into consideration for the final selection:

• Performance in past education like 10+2th grade, 10th grade etc
• AIEED 2020 exam score in GAT and CAT
• Performance in the Interview along with the Portfolio showcased by the student
