Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay will release the UCEED 2026 exam pattern at its official portal - uceed.iitb.ac.in. The UCEED exam pattern will be released at the time of the UCEED 2026 notification through the official brochure. The UCEED paper pattern 2026 includes details on UCEED total marks, number of questions, exam duration, and more. The UCEED exam total marks as per the year 2025 are 300. The UCEED question paper includes 2 parts - Part A and Part B. As per the exam pattern, the UCEED total marks are 300, where 200 marks are for part A and 100 marks are for part B.

Further, aspirants who wish to know “is there negative marking in UCEED?” should note that there will be no negative marking for NAT questions. The UCEED pattern for the year 2025 (previous year) exam had some changes. The changes are listed in the table below in terms of questions and their marks as per UCEED pattern.

There will be ONE question paper of a total of three hours duration.
The question paper will be in English only.
UCEED exam total marks are 300.
UCEED paper pattern includes two parts - Part-A and Part B. It is compulsory to attempt questions from both parts.

Note: Utmost care will be taken to prepare an error-free question paper in UCEED 2026. However, if an error is detected in the question paper, the UCI Committee shall take an appropriate decision after the examination, which shall be final.
Part A of the UCEED entrance exam will consist of three sections and will be a computer-based test. The UCEED total marks for Part A section is 200, and the students will be allotted 2 hours to solve all the questions involved in it.
Numerical Answer Type: These are the first type of questions in which the answer is a number that must be entered using the virtual keyboard available on the computer screen. There will be a total 14 questions in this section with each carrying 4 marks, so that the total marks of this section is 56. There is no negative marking for the wrong answer in this section.
Multiple Select Questions: There will be options given in this question, and one or more of them can be correct. There will be 15 questions from this section, and it will carry partial marking as per the rules mentioned below:
It must be noted that there is negative marking of -1 for these types of questions. For each correct answer the students will get 4 marks and the total mark for this section is 60.
Multiple Choice Questions: The multiple-choice questions will carry for choices out of which the students have to select the most appropriate one. Only one option out of the four given options will be correct which the students need to identify to get full marks. A total of 28 questions carrying 3 marks each will be there in this section, resulting in 84 marks. There is a negative marking of -0.71 for each wrong answer.

It must be noted that no marks will be deducted for any question that is left unattempted in any section. The negative marks have been elucidated below.

The Part B answers of UCEED is to be drawn or written in the answer booklet provided by the invigilator. A total of 100 marks is allotted to this section, which has to be attempted within one hour. The students must know that there will be only two questions that will test their drawing skills and design aptitude. This will be a subjective evaluation, and the questions will be available on the computer screen for which the answers are to be drawn and written in the answer booklet. The submission of the answer booklet at the end of the examination to the invigilator is mandatory. Each of the two questions in part B of UCEED will carry 50 marks.

As the 2026 official brochure is yet to be released, candidates can refer to the UCCED 2025 official brochure until then. Part-A will be conducted as a computer-based test. Hence, there is no provision of reviewing, re-grading or re-totalling of the Part-A marks of the exam paper. The UCEED Part-B consists of 2 questions, which are evaluated manually by the examiners. As UCEED 2025 Part-B is a subjective section, there is no model solution that exists. As such, there is NO provision for RE-EVALUATION or RE-TOTALLING in UCEED, hence the request for re-evaluation/re-totalling will NOT be possible under any circumstances.
Before starting the preparation for the UCEED exam, the candidates must be aware of the UCEED exam pattern and syllabus. This will help in a structured preparation and they will not miss out on any topic. The official UCEED syllabus for 2026 will be released along with the brochure, meanwhile these are the most important UCEED exam subjects to cover for preparation. The UCEED exam will be mostly based on a student’s skill of observation and designing.

UCEED exam will have two parts. Part A consists of NAT, MSQ and MCQ type of questions. And Part B of UCEED question paper tests a candidate’s aptitude and drawing skills.
UCEED eligibility is that the candidate must have qualified 10+2 or equivalent or must be appearing the board exams in the current year. The candidate from all the streams (Science, Commerce, and Arts & Humanities) are also eligible. However, the candidate has to be from science stream with Biology/ Maths if they want to join IIITDM Jabalpur. For IIT Roorkee and Guwahati students need to have maths as a compulsory subject.

UCEED is a competitive exam for design aspirants, testing design aptitude, logical thinking, creativity, and visualisation skills. To improve your score out of 300, start by understanding the exam pattern—Part A (objective) and Part B (subjective). For Part A, practice reasoning, numerical aptitude, and environmental & social awareness questions. For Part B, focus on drawing, sketching, and presenting your ideas clearly. Solve past year UCEED papers and join online mock test series. Spend at least 2–3 hours daily practising creative problem-solving and sketching. Also, work on time management because the exam requires quick thinking.

For NID DAT 2026, your eligibility is established based on your born date as you are born on or after July 1st 2005. For UCEED 2026, your eligibility is dependent on your born date by category. You are eligible if you are OPEN/EWS/OBC-NCL category and born on or after October 1, 2001. If you are SC/ST/PwD category you must be born on or after October 1, 1996 in order to be eligible. Based on your born date of December 20th, 2006 for both NID DAT 2026 and UCEED 2026; you will be eligible.

Currently, NSUT does not offer a B.Des. program. However, other institutes like IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, and IIITDM Jabalpur offer B.Des. through UCEED.
