IIT Bombay admission to MDes course depends on the CEED scores followed by written test, online interview and portfolio review. The candidates who are selected for the online evaluation will have to submit their portfolios.
The admission process involves a written test and interview for each of the streams. Written tests may have a material/ studio test, which will be informed to the applicants who will be selected for written tests and interviews. In the IIT Bombay MDes admission 2026 interview, candidates will be assessed based on their portfolio, academic background, stream-specific design skills, and general as well as design knowledge.
The following criteria will be used to calculate the final score of the entrance exam for IIT Bombay MDes 2026 admission:

The IDC School of Design offers a Master of Design (MDes) program in various streams. To apply, candidates have to:
Step 1: Take the CEED exam and get a valid CEED 2026 score.

Admission will not be offered to any candidates who do not satisfy the prescribed IIT Bombay MDes eligibility criteria. The IIT Bombay MDes admission criteria include the academic qualification and the minimum percentage of marks that the candidate must obtain to get admission to the institute. IIT Bombay MDes Eligibility Criteria: Candidates who have a GD Art diploma need to have at least one year of work experience in design fields.

The duration of the M.Des program at IIT Bombay is two years and divided into four semesters. Two semesters in each year.
There is no age limit for pursuing an M.Des at IIT Bombay.

While the CEED score is important, most of the institutes use full selection process that includes your CEED score(Part A and B), Portfolio and often an interview or studio tests.Your 6 years of experience, strong portfolio and relevant coursera certificates can add significant value during admission in IITDM, Srishti etc which consider the overall profile not just the rank.
