The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay offers a Master’s in Design (MDes) course to students through the CEED exam. For the IIT MDes admission, aspirants have to apply at the respective institute’s website. The M.Des course is specialised in designing and helps to create responsible designers for the country. There are seven IITs that participate in the IIT MDes admissions 2025. All of the mentioned institutions offer the MDes course by selecting candidates based on the scores of CEED 2025.
IIT Jodhpur MDes Admission
CEED is a national level entrance examination to shortlisted candidates for admission into the M.Des programme at IITs and other participating institutes. Below are some of the CEED participating institutions.
IIITDM Kancheepuram MDes Admission
Students must know the admission process for IITs MDes course which is common to all institutes participating. The following steps are pretty much common for all the participating institutions.
The first step for admission into the MDes program into IIT is to qualify the CEED exam.
The students need to apply with a valid CEED score into the specific program through the links provided in the IITs they want to apply in. CEED result has been declared on March 5, 2025.
The shortlisted candidates will be called for a written test.
This written test will be followed by an interview conducted in the institution.
A final merit list score will be published on the website.
Following that a final admission list will be provided on the website along with the wait. In case the candidates in the admission list do not take admission, candidates in the wait list will be offered a seat.
The application forms for IIT MDes admission are available online on the respective websites of the various IITs. While form filling the students need to choose the stream (if applicable). The candidates might also need to do certain tasks and upload them along with relevant documents. The students then need to pay a nominal fee and then finally submit the form.

The MDes 2025 merit list is created on the basis of all the tests conducted from the beginning of the exam process. The merit list score is calculated by CEED score (A) x 0.7 + written test (B) and interview (C) x 0.3. The students who are selected for admission in the first list will be given a certain time to deposit the fee for a semester and other documents for IIT MDes admission. If not done so the admission will be cancelled and the second merit list will be provided on the website on the basis of seats that are left out.

The MDes admission test is conducted by respective IITs to shortlist the candidates after the CEED entrance exam. The test is usually an aptitude test. The students need to appear for the admission test and interview, in order to get admission into IITs. Usually 30% of the written test marks are taken into consideration in the final score of the merit list.

The declaration of results is the final step in the admission process. The results are declared after calculating the sum total of all the exams and interviews conducted. Based on the final score calculated, a final merit list will be published. Admission letters will be made from this list, considering the available seats in each category.

User experience basics
Problem - solving skills

Yes, you still have a good chance even with a mid CEED score, if the rest of your profile is strong. While the CEED score is important, most of the institutes use full selection process that includes your CEED score(Part A and B), Portfolio and often an interview or studio tests.Your 6 years of experience, strong portfolio and relevant coursera certificates can add significant value during admission in IITDM, Srishti etc which consider the overall profile not just the rank.
