Indian Institute of Science prescribes the IISC Bangalore M.Des eligibility criteria 2026 on its official website. Candidates must make sure they fulfil the eligiblity criteria before completing their registration.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.)/ Bachelor of Technology(B.Tech) or equivalent degree in any discipline (with a valid GATE/ CAT or CEED score).
Candidates must have a Bachelor of Design (BDes with valid CEED) / Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) (with valid GATE or CEED) qualified and hold valid GATE score as on the admission date
Candidates who are in the final years of the qualifying exam can also apply for admission to IISC Bengaluru MDes but they have to produce proof of passing at the time of admission.
To avoid chaos at the last minute, candidates are advised to keep the document ready before filling out the IISC MDes application form

IISC Bangalore will open the IISc MDes 2026 application form online tentatively in the first week of February 2026. Following are the steps to fill out the application form for IISC Bengaluru MDes 2026.
Step 1 - Registration
Candidates must visit the official website of IISc - iisc.ac.in to complete initial registration and generate login credentials. Following are the details that candidates have to fulfill while registering.

Candidates category - Candidates have to select the category carefully as it cannot be changed later. If candidates belong to the reserved category, those aspirants are required to upload the scanned image of the caste certificate.

The registration process will be considered completed after the verification of the email address.

Step 3 - Fill in all the Personal Details
Candidates have to provide their personal details in the application form for MDes IISC Bengaluru. The details that have to be furnished are as follows

Step 4 - Upload the requisite Documents
Aspirants need to upload the following documents in the application form;
Scanned photograph and signature of the candidates in Jpeg, Giff, Tiff, or PNG format. The dimension of the file should not be more than 1 MB
Caste certificate (OBC/NC/SC/ST) has to be uploaded in Jpeg, Giff, Tiff, or PNG format if applicable.
Candidates have to click on the ‘Save and Proceed’ button after uploading the necessary documents.
Step 5 - Choose the department
Candidates must fill in the following details

Provide CEED score and roll number, if candidates aware of it
Select the preference of the department. If the candidate appears only in one discipline then the others can be left blank.
Step 6 - Qualification Details
In these steps, candidates have to furnish the following information
Enter the name of the school/college/institutions where candidates have passed 10, 10+2, undergraduate, and postgraduate
Address of the school, colleges, and institute
Percentage of marks scored in Class X, XII, Diploma, Undergraduate, and postgraduate levels
Enter the subject that the candidates have studied in their qualifying exam
Provide the rank u have secured, if any
Mention the semester-wise marks
Enter the percentage or the GPA at the undergraduate level
Step 7 - Pay the application fee
Candidates belonging to general/OBC/EWS categories must pay the application fee of Rs. 800. However, candidates from reserved categories i.e ST/SC/PWD have to pay Rs. 400 and ERP candidates of all categories Rs. 2000 as an application fee online through the following modes -

Step 8 - Preview the IISC Bengaluru MDes application form
Prior to the final submission, candidates must check if the details provided are correct or not.
Step 9 - Click on Confirm to Submit the application form

Step 10- Take a printout of the filled-in Application Form
Candidates have to take a printout of the submitted application form for future reference.
Top Design Entrance Exam
IISc Bengaluru will notify the interview/group discussion/aptitude test schedule on its official website for shortlisted candidates. Candidates must report in person for the interview process. The IISC MDes interview carries 30% weight in the final selection process.
The Indian Institute of Science will declare the result of the IISC Bangalore MDes admission 2026 on its official website. The result of IISc Bangalore M.Des 2026 admissions will be prepared based on consolidated scores in the entrance exam and the interview. Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend document verification, complete fee payment and report to the institute within the prescribed deadline.
The examination authority will release the IISc Bengaluru M.Des admission cut-off on its official website. The IISc Bangalore MDes cut-off 2026 will be released for each category. Only those candidates who clear the IISc Bengaluru M.Des cut-off are called to attend the interview process.

Candidates appearing in CEED/ GATE exam and scoring valid marks are eligible for the IISC Bengaluru MDes admission 2026. Candidates will be offered admission to IISC Bengaluru MDes 2026 based on their performance in the written test, followed by the interview. IISC Selection is based on 70% weightage on CEED/GATE/CAT score + 30% performance in interview. Candidates who have cleared the entrance test for admission have to carry the following documents at the time of the interview.
Copies of the attested marks cards of SSLC or its equivalent onwards, degree certificates of the qualifying examinations, etc.
Candidates have to bring the caste certificate for verification purposes.
Candidates from the OBC non-creamy layer/ minorities (as listed in the Central list) have to provide the original certificates which have to be issued on or after April 1, 2026, by a recognized authority.
Persons with disability (PwD) and Kashmiri Migrants (KM) must carry the originals of the appropriate certificates that have been issued as perthe Government of India rules.
