NIFT Exam Pattern 2019 - National Institute of Fashion Technology has announced NIFT 2019 exam pattern on October 22, 2018. Candidates seeking admission to Bachelor of design will have to appear for NIFT 2019 CAT and GAT on January 20, 2019. The shortlisted ones will have to take situation test as well. Aspirants willing to get admissions to Bachelor of Technology will have to appear for GAT only. NIFT exam pattern 2019 will comprise the important details (total questions, maximum marks, test duration, sections) of all these tests- Creative Ability Test (CAT), General Ability Test (GAT) and Situation Test. NIFT Exam Pattern for Creative Ability Test (CAT)

 Candidates should know the exam pattern of CAT that will be held for Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) admissions. This test will evaluate the intuitive & design ability and observation skills for developing a concept. Creativity and innovation in skills will also be judged via this test.

Section-wise topics for NIFT 2019 GAT for B.Des admissions

  • English Comprehension: It will judge how a candidate is able to comprehend a situation from a given passage. This section of NIFT 2019 is also a test of basic English language.

  • Quantitative Ability: It is the test of quantitative ability of the test-takers. Topics like division, fractions, percentages, addition, multiplication, interest rates, ratio & proportion, distance, work, etc. Should be studied for this section.

  • Communication Ability: Candidates’ language ability in daily communication in English is tested via this. He/she must know the one-word substitutes, idioms and phrases, synonyms, antonyms, words with corresponding meanings, correct spellings, singular, plural, etc. should be prepared.    

  • Analytical Ability: This evaluates the candidate’s ability to draw inference and logic from the given information.

  • General Knowledge and Current Affairs: Candidates should be updated with the current affairs and happenings along with general knowledge to score good in this section.

NIFT Exam Pattern for Situation Test

 This test is conducted for the shortlisted candidates of CAT and GAT for Bachelor of Design admissions. It will judge test-takers’ ability to handle the given set of materials along with innovation in a particular situation. No additional material will be provided/allowed.

 Evaluation of the model will be done on the basis of space visualization, creativity, uniqueness, finishing, element composition, construction, color scheme, and a lot more.

Candidates seeking admissions in the B.F.Tech admissions will have to appear for GAT. The details are as follows:

Section-wise topics for NIFT 2019 GAT for B.F.Tech admissions

  • Quantitative Ability- For testing the quantitative ability, the candidates are tested on questions related to division, fractions, percentages, addition, multiplication, rate of interest, ratio and proportion, distance, and work.

  • Communication Ability and English Comprehension- Questions from correct spellings, singular, plural, one-word substitutes, synonyms, antonyms, words with corresponding meanings, idioms and phrases, etc. will be asked.  

  • Analytical Ability and Logical Ability- Candidates will have to draw conclusion and logic from the given information. Creativity, lateral thinking and reasoning have to be applied to solve the questions in this section.  

  • General Knowledge and Current Affairs- This section will test general knowledge and current affairs of the candidates.

  • Case Study- This section will test the industrial aptitude of the candidates. It will evaluate their managerial ability as well.
