National Testing Agency has released the NIFT exam pattern 2025 at nift.ac.in along with the official notification. The entrance exam will be held in two sections - Creative Ability Test (CAT) and General Ability Test (GAT). The total number of questions in BDes paper according to the NIFT exam pattern, is 100. The NIFT exam total marks for BDes is 100 for GAT. Also NIFT exam total marks for CAT is 100. NIFT Exam Pattern 2025 - Highlights
The NIFT exam pattern details of GAT test is a computer-based test (CBT) and is conducted online.
NIFT paper pattern of CAT test is a paper-based test (PBT).
The total number of questions in BDes paper according to the NIFT paper pattern, is 100.
The NIFT question paper pattern 2025 will be in 2 languages, i.e., Hindi and English.
The objective-type tests will have NIFT negative marking. The negative marks for any question will be 25% of the full marks for the question (for each wrong answer).
As per the NIFT BFTech entrance exam pattern, the question paper will consist of two sections - A and B.

The foremost task for the candidates is to go through the NIFT 2025 exam pattern to know about the NIFT marking scheme and the NIFT question paper pattern or format. The entrance exam for NIFT admission consists of 3 parts. NIFT exam pattern 2025 includes:

However, students planning to get NIFT admission into the Bachelor of Fashion Technology will have to attempt the NIFT GAT question paper only.

The candidates planning to appear for the NIFT entrance exam should check the NIFT exam pattern 2025 beforehand. The Creativity Ability Test (CAT) is for 3 hours as per the NIFT 2025 exam pattern. The NIFT CAT marks in total is 100. As per NIFT CAT syllabus, the paper evaluates the candidate’s intuitive and design abilities, observation power in developing a concept and its design, innovative use of colour, and illustration skills. The NIFT CAT exam question paper has questions that require drawn answers based on which students will be evaluated.

NIFT Total Marks
The NIFT exam total marks for the entrance exam may vary depending on the authorities decision. The entrance exam details vary for the NIFT programmes. The NIFT exam total marks are as follows.

NIFT marks for Situation test - conducted for B.Des candidates who qualify the written test. The NIFT marks for the situation test may vary each year.

NIFT 2025 Negative Marking
The NIFT 2025 negative marking is for the objective-type test. The NIFT negative marking 2025 is given as -0.25 (25% of full marks) for each incorrect answer. Candidates can check the NIFT paper pattern to know the negative marking in NIFT.
NIFT Exam Pattern 2025 for the Situation Test
The candidates of BDes who are shortlisted based on the entrance exam (CAT & GAT) will take the next stage as NIFT Situation Test 2025.
The situation test is a hands-on test conducted to evaluate the candidate’s skills to test the “material handling and innovative ability” with a provided set of materials in a given situation.
Here in the situation test, the candidates have to create a model and that model will be evaluated on these parameters:
Space visualization
The composition of elements
Innovative and creative use of given material
Construction skill
The colour scheme
The finesse of the model
The overall presentation
The above-mentioned parameters will be checked along with the write-up, explaining the concept/idea behind the model constructed. The write-up will have to be in the English language as the medium of instruction in NIFT is English. No NIFT marks will be given for write-ups in any other language.

The passing marks for NIFT entrance exam varies every year. The candidates need to score NIFT exam total marks above the pass marks to obtain a seat in the colleges.
How to fill out the NIFT 2025 OMR sheet?
The candidates have to mark their answers in the OMR sheets carefully because they will be digitally scanned. Ensure that there will not be any mistakes while marking the OMR sheet. Any small mistakes may end up being wrongly encoded by the computer while scanning. Below provided are the ways to fill the NIFT 2025 OMR sheet.
The NIFT answer sheet 2025 is scanned by the machines to provide the score calculation.
In objective-type questions, there will be 4 answer options. To mark the correct answer, the candidates have to use only blue or black ballpoint pens to darken the corresponding circle of the answer.
Marking more than one option or improper shading will result in an incorrect response.
All the candidates are advised in the NIFT exam hall as to how to mark/shade the answer options. However, there will be ‘Important Instructions’ provided on side - 1 of the answer sheet. Read them carefully before proceeding with the test.
The candidates are not allowed to tear, bend, or mutilate the OMR answer sheet.

The NIFT exam timings for each course is scheduled and varies according to the test requirements of the programmes. Candidates are advised to reach the examination centre at least an hour before the scheduled time to complete the pre-exam formalities, such as verification of the candidate and seat arrangements. NIFT Exam Pattern 2025 for Lateral Entry
The NIFT lateral entry admission (NLEA) exam pattern is designed to assess the skills of candidates who wish to join directly into the third semester of the undergraduate programme. The candidates who have completed Diploma/Degree will appear for NIFT entrance examination to get lateral admission in the 3rd semester of UG programmes of NIFT. The NIFT selection process will be evaluated based on the studio test/technology aptitude test, and a personal interview. The NIFT studio test will be designed to test the knowledge and skill aptitude of the candidate. Candidates who clear the NIFT entrance examination and practical tests will be invited for an interview. The NIFT final selection will be based on a merit list. The NIFT objective type questions will carry negative marking. The NIFT negative marking will be 25% of the full marks for each wrong answer.

Hello aspirant,
The nationwide Institute of Fashion Technology offers a nationwide entrance exam called NIFT for admission to its fashion design programmes.
Every course has specific requirements that must be met in order to apply. For NIFT, there is no minimum age requirement, however it is evident that passing the 10+2 exam is a requirement in order to be admitted to any undergraduate programme in fashion design.
You cannot be admitted because you are in class eleven. However, you can apply to NIFT for experience and practice, and if your application is accepted, you can take the entrance exam. If you pass, however, be aware that you will not be able to retain your results for admission.

Yes! If you want to pursue your under graduation from nift after 12th or even if you are appearing for12th exam then you are eligible to apply for the exam. There are several courses offered by nift which includes undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes.
Age (Undergraduate degree programmes) -
- General - the maximum age should be less than 24 years as on 1st august in the year of examination
- Reserved category - 5 years relaxation

NIFT 2023 ELIGIBILITY - B.DES admission
1. Aspiring students must have completed a 10+2 board exam from any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education/State Board New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi or,
2. Any Board/Public School/University Examination conducted in India or abroad which is equivalent to the 10+2 system and is accorded by the Association of Indian Universities or,
3. If candidates complete the General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Sri Lanka/ Cambridge/) at the Advanced (A) level/International Baccalaureate (IB) then, they are eligible to apply or,
4. Students will also be eligible if they have passed the 10+2 examination conducted by the National Open School with at least five subjects or,
5. Diploma of 3 or 4 years which is recognized by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education.
Age limit - Candidates must be of 23 years of age as of August 1, 2022. However, candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Person With Disability (PHP) get a relaxation of 5 years
Eligibility for B.F.Tech admission
1. 3. General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination(London/ Cambridge/ Sri Lanka) at the advanced (A) level with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/International Baccalaureate (IB) or,
4. Diploma of 3 or 4 years in any programme of engineering which is recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education or,
5. A passing grade in the Higher Secondary Education Examination held by the National Open School with at least five subjects - Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics

For BVoc courses in interior design, separate entrance exams are conducted by the concerned colleges. By giving NIFT you can only get admission in BDes and MDes courses in NIFTs and some other participating institutes.

In 2022 NIFT Entrance Examination was conducted in 32 cities. The candidates have to select the preference of the examination cities while filling the application form. Based on the availability, preferences of the examination cities you will be allotted an examination center. You have to appear for NIFT Entrance Examination in the allotted examination center as per the given schedule. You can select any city where examination is conducted while filling your preferences, make sure that you select the cities such that you can commute on the day of examination easily. Next year the list of examination cities may increase or decrease, the cities may vary.
