How is NIFT Admission Done?

The NIFT entrance exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) every year. The NIFT entrance exam is applicable for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Full form of NIFT is National Institute of Fashion Technology. To get admission in NIFT 2025, aspirants have to appear for the Creative Ability Test (CAT), General Ability Test (GAT), and Situation Test/ GD/ PI as a part of the NIFT admission process. The CAT and GAT exams are the prerequisites for B.Des and M.Des admissions that will be conducted online. The candidates who clear the CAT & GAT will be eligible to take the NIFT Situation test.

For admission to the BFTech programme, the candidates only need to take the NIFT GAT question paper. Meanwhile, it is a must for the MFM candidates to pass out in both the GAT and the GD/PI rounds to acquire admission at any of the NIFT campuses.

NIFT Admission Criteria 2025

NIFT Admission Criteria - B.Des programme

• Qualification (Academics): The candidates must have completed their secondary education in the 10+2 pattern from any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, including the Central Board of Secondary Education or the State Board New Delhi, or the Council for the Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi.

• Age limit: The candidates should be 24 years or below as of August 1, 2025. However, a relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Person with Disability (PWD) categories is provided for candidates.

NIFT Admission Eligibility: (B.F.Tech.) Programme

• Qualification (Academic): Candidates must have completed their Plus 2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern from any Central or State Board of Secondary Examination recognized by the government, with Physics & Mathematics as subjects.

• Age limit: Candidates should be 24 years old or below as of August 1, 2025. However, a relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit is provided for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Person with Disability (PWD) category candidates.

The aspirants interested in appearing for the NIFT 2025 entrance exam must fill and submit online at nift.ac.in before NIFT registration 2025 last date. The NIFT 2025 registration dates will be announced by the authorities with and without a late fee. Candidates are to visit the official website and proceed with the NIFT registration 2025. After the registration process, the candidates are allotted a registered user ID and password so as to complete the NIFT admission process 2025 by logging in through the given credentials. Candidates have to complete and pay the NIFT admission process 2025 fees as per the prescribed application fee. The NIFT application form fee is Rs. 3,000 for the general category candidates and Rs. 1,500 for the candidates of SC/ST/PWD category.

The process of NIFT counselling is conducted to provide and secure a seat at the various campuses of NIFT.

Candidates need to register for the process of NIFT counselling. The NIFT counselling will be conducted in certain rounds based on the authority's decision. NIFT conducts a centralised seat allotment process through online counselling.
