NIFT cutoff 2020 - National Institute of Fashion Technology will release NIFT 2020 cutoff in May in online mode. The cutoff will be released section and campus-wise post counselling and admission. NIFT cutoff is minimum rank released by the institutions for providing admission in various undergraduate courses in fashion technology and design. Candidates must meet the cut-off to seek admission in one of the sixteen campuses of NIFT as they will get admission based on the same. With the help of NIFT cutoff, candidates can know about the required rank for getting admission in a particular programme and campus. Nearly 23,000 candidates appear every year in NIFT entrance exam and compete for 3, 590 seats allotted for Bachelor of Design (B.Des), Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.Tech) and Postgraduate programmes. NIFT 2020 will be held on January 19, 2020. The result of NIFT 2020 for B.FTech will be announced in first week of March while the result for B.Des will be declared in fourth week of March. NIFT Cut-off 2020: Important Points

The following important points will be taken into consideration at the time of preparing NIFT cutoff 2020:

  • The cutoff will be announced for the candidates who will qualify the entrance exam

  • The cut-off of NIFT 2020 will be released based on the the result of candidates. Candidates securing high marks will get top rank whereas those who will score low marks will have low ranks.

  • The cut-off of NIFT 2020 will be prepared on the basis of the ranks and marks secured by candidates along with their categories.

NIFT Counselling 2020

NIFT counselling will start from second week of June 2020. The authorities will start registration for first round of NIFT 2020 counselling from fourth week of May to first week of June for B.Des and B.FTech admissions. Students will have to attend NIFT 2020 counselling as per the announced schedule, along with the requisite documents for verification purpose.

Hello dear aspirant.

For a exam like NIFT one month is a very less time. But if you work hard and smart . You can surely get success. First of all make a proper time table that you will study 14-16hrs daily. Ten after solve at least two previous year papers daily. Join a test series and see how are the results.

Hi Gunjan,
In theNIFT entrance exam, you have to write a creative ability test (CAT), General ability Test (GAT) and Situation Test and Personal interview.

For GAT the topics like English comprehension, Quantitative ability, mathematics, General Knowledge and current affairs are asked.

For General Knowledge and current affairs
Questions are asked mainly Fashion related topics, recent achievements in the fashion world like Miss World, Miss Universe etc.
Questions are also asked based on different brands, products and market value. Also, fashion magazines and newspaper reading will definitely help you for GAT G.K section.

Dear Aspirant,

The NIFT entrance exam is a pen and paper test with two papers- Creative Aptitude Test (CAT) and General Aptitude Test (GAT). For B.Des. and M.Des., GAT is conducted for 2 hours and for B.F.Tech., M.F.M., and M.F.Tech., GAT is conducted for 3 hours because of the differences in the weightage. The number of questions also differ from course to course.

CAT evaluates your creativity and deigning aptitude. This is important if you are seeking Bachelors of Design as your course.  Your intuition skills and observation skills should be put into practice to achieve good marks in the same. Colour and illustration skills become important and will also be evaluated in this.

GAT evaluates the academic aptitude like Mathematics (class 10th level), Reasoning, English Language and Comprehension. It also consists of GK, current affairs and the knowledge of the fashion industry.

English consists of spot the error, sentence correction, analogies, syntax, synonyms, antonyms, idioms and phrases, one word substitution, fill in the blanks, spelling errors, grammar and arranging the sentences or passages in the correct order.

Reasoning consists of verbal and non-verbal series, directions, ranking, calendar, sitting arrangement, coding-decoding, cubes and dices, clocks, syllogism, puzzles, blood relations, eligibility criteria, line counting, graph and related things.

GK and Current Affairs section apart from the GK and current affairs, also consists of questions based on fashion. Be aware of TV endorsements and their taglines used for different products in the same, fashion terminology, entertainment events, brands, logos, celebrities, Miss Universe, Miss World and fashion trends both which are in and out. Other than that, be thorough with current affairs consisting of the political, economic and social situation and also with sports, culture and history of India.

Mathematics consists of the pipes and cisterns, work time, simple interest, compound interest, averages, mensuration, set theory,  number system, ratio and proportion, ages, profit and loss, speed time, height and distance,mixtures and allegations, trigonometry, upstream & downstream, permutation and combination and probability.

There are 100 questions for B.Des. paper which are divided as follows:

English Comprehension- 25 questions

Quantitative ability- 20 questions

Communication ability- 25 questions

Analytical ability- 15 marks

GK and current affairs- 15 marks

Hi Akshita,
NIFT entrance exam is for getting admission is the national institute Institute of Fashion Technology. NIFT has almost 16 campuses all over India and is a leader in Fashion technology courses in India.

The NIFT exam has three parts creative Ability Test (CAT), General ability test (GAT) and Situation Test.

Creative ability test is for  3 hours in which your designing skills and your innovative ideas are tested, this exam is done with paper and pencil.

General ability test (GAT)in which the Analytical ability, General knowledge and English comprehension is tested, this exam is for 2 hours So having a good English proficiency and solving Quantitative analytical questions will help you to get good marks in NIFT exam.

After this  test, the shortlisted candidates have to appear for situation test in which creative development, innovative ideas of a product has to be explained and the skills of a candidate will be closely evaluated.
so if you study hard by doing previous year question papers and practising the creative skills exam will be easy for you.

NIFT exam pattern consists of three different levels of exam Creative Ability Test (CAT), General Ability Test (GAT) and Situation Test. The institute assesses candidates knowledge, skill and aptitude through this national-level design aptitude exam.

In GAT exam includes Sections like:
English comprehension
Quantitative ability
Communication ability
Analytical ability
General knowledge and current affairs

NIFT Exam Pattern for Situation Test

The shortlisted candidates in CAT and GAT for Bachelor of Design will have to take situation test. It judges test-takers ability to handle the given set of materials along with innovation in a particular situation. Candidates must note that they are not allowed to carry any additional material. Evaluation of the model is done on the basis of space visualization, creativity, uniqueness, finishing, element composition, construction, colour scheme, and a lot more.
