IIT Bombay, IDC has specified the CEED 2026 result evaluation criteria in the official information brochure and is available on the official website - ceed.iitb.ac.in. Candidates who appear for the CEED entrance exam can use the evaluation framework to verify how candidates’ performances in different parts of the exam are assessed and how the final CEED 2026 result and ranks are prepared. To be considered for admission through CEED 2026, candidates must appear for both Part A and Part B of the examination. Only those who meet the required qualifying criteria in Part A will have their Part B answers evaluated.

The CEED 2026 examination consists of two parts:
Part A: Computer-based objective test
Part B: Offline subjective test
Candidates must qualify Part A to be eligible for Part B evaluation. The CEED 2026 result will be declared based on the candidate’s performance in both sections, and only shortlisted candidates will be assigned a CEED rank.

Marks obtained in Part A are used only for shortlisting candidates for Part B evaluation
There is no provision for re-evaluation, rechecking, or retotalling of Part A marks
The CEED cut-off for Part A is calculated using a statistical formula based on the mean (μ) and standard deviation (σ) of marks obtained by all candidates
The cut-off (?) for Part-A marks for the Open category will be ? + (?⁄2) = ?, where ? and ? are the average marks and standard deviation of the distribution of marks obtained by ALL the candidates in Part-A of CEED 2026. The ?, and ? will be rounded off to two decimal places.
Relaxed cut-offs apply for reserved categories
OBC-NCL / EWS: 0.9 × δ
SC / ST / PwD: 0.5 × δ
Candidates who do not meet the Part A cut-off will not have their Part B answers evaluated
The Part A question paper, draft answer key, and candidate response sheet will be made available on the official website
Candidates will be allowed to raise objections against the draft answer key within the stipulated period
Part B of CEED is a subjective, pen-and-paper test that evaluates candidates’ drawing skills, creativity, communication, and problem-solving abilities. CEED Part B has 5 questions that candidates need to attempt in the offline examination. The evaluation rules for Part B are as follows:
Only candidates who qualify Part A will have their Part B answers evaluated
There is no model solution for Part B questions because of subjective evaluation
Answers are evaluated holistically based on predefined criteria for each type of question such as:
Sketching
Creativity
Form Sensitivity
Visual Sensitivity
Problem Identification
There is no provision for re-evaluation or retotalling of Part B marks
Evaluated Part B answer booklets will not be shared with candidates
CEED Part B answers are evaluated manually by design experts and carry a significant 75% weight in the final CEED score. This evaluation is highly subjective, focusing on the quality of ideas and communication.

After the declaration of the CEED results candidates can download their scorecards and commence with application for M.Des programmes to Institutes of their choice. There is no centralised counselling process.
