Qualifying Exam

  • Candidates must have a B.Tech/ B.E. degree (4-year program) in design or Architecture with a minimum mark of 55% marks/ 5.5 (on a 10-point scale) as long as it is not less than the minimum pass marks/CPI in their graduate degree.

  • Those candidates who are currently in the final year of the qualifying exam can also apply for the entrance test. However, admission will be kept on hold until the candidates submit the proof of minimum qualification by the last week of September in the year of admission.

  • The admission will be cancelled if candidates fail to complete the final exam of the qualifying exam at the time of admission, or if the documents are not submitted till the date.

  • Candidates who have a degree in Fine Arts or Interior Design are not eligible for the entrance exam.

  • There is no age limit prescribed by the authority

Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur will release the application form for IIT Kanpur MDes admission 2026 tentatively in March 2026 in online mode. The procedure to fill out the M.Des application form is mentioned below.

Step 1 - Registration

To fill out the application form of MDes IIT Kanpur application form, candidates have to register first by entering the following details.

Step 3 - Enter the Correspondence Address

After filling in the above details candidates have to enter the correspondence address in the application form. The requisite elements are

Step 4 - Provide a Permanent Address

In the next step, candidates are required to provide their permanent address. The following details have to be provided in this step

While the CEED score is important, most of the institutes use full selection process that includes your CEED score(Part A and B), Portfolio and often an interview or studio tests.Your 6 years of experience, strong portfolio and relevant coursera certificates can add significant value during admission in IITDM, Srishti etc which consider the overall profile not just the rank.
