National Institute of Fashion Technology will notify the NIFT syllabus 2027 on its official website - nift.ac.in. Aspirants can check the NIFT syllabus in the admission prospectus released at the time of the NIFT exam notification. The syllabus of NIFT 2027 will inform candidates about the NIFT 2027 exam components for various programmes, sections, and the marking scheme.

The NIFT 2027 syllabus consists of two components - NIFT General Ability Test syllabus and NIFT Creative Ability Test syllabus. The GAT component of the NIFT entrance exam is compulsory for all programmes, while the CAT is required only for B.Des and M.Des.
The table below provides the entrance exam components and the shortlisting criteria. Candidates have to appear for the respective component in the NIFT syllabus 2027 mentioned for the particular programme for which they have applied.

The NIFT General Ability Test is an objective test conducted in online mode. The NIFT 2027 syllabus for GAT will evaluate candidates on different aspects such as reasoning, general awareness, quantitative ability, and english comprehension skills.
Communication Ability and English Comprehension - This section will evaluate the candidate’s day-to-day communication in English. The questions in the exam will include antonyms, synonyms, words with corresponding meanings, one-word substitutes, singular and plural, idioms and phrases, correct spellings, and comprehension
Quantitative Ability (QA) - The quantitative ability section of the NIFT GAT syllabus has questions based on basic arithmetic, such as addition, division, multiplication, and questions on rate of interest, ratio and proportion, percentage, time and work, speed, distance and time
Analytical & Logical Ability - This section will test the candidate’s ability to analyse a problem and draw logical inferences by applying creative and lateral thinking.
General Knowledge and Current Affairs: This section comprises questions related to general knowledge and current affairs from national and international events.
Case study: In the case study section, the candidates will be given certain situations to evaluate their thinking and problem-solving ability.

This NIFT Creative Ability Test is administered for the B.Des and M.Des Programmes. The NIFT CAT syllabus 2026 evaluates the intuitive ability, observation power in concept development, and design ability of the candidate. Candidates will be required to make creative and innovative use of colour and illustration skills.
Candidates must not disclose their identity by writing any personal details. Providing any details, including the details/logo of the coaching centre, etc, or placing any identification mark on the answer sheet is also prohibited. Candidates found indulging in any of these things will be disqualified, and their results will be withheld.

The NIFT situation test is administered for the B.Des programme only. It is the second stage of admission for candidates who have been shortlisted after the NIFT entrance exam.
The NIFT syllabus 2027 for the situation test evaluates the candidate’s practical and hands-on skills for material handling and innovative ability on a given situation with a given set of materials. Candidates will be asked to make a model with the given material without utilising any outside material. In addition to building the model, candidates are also required to submit a write-up in English, explaining their model and thinking behind it.
