NIFT Eligibility Criteria 2025: Age Limit, Qualifications, Marks

National Testing Agency (NTA) will release the NIFT eligibility criteria 2025 at exams.nta.ac.in/NIFT. Candidates who wish to appear for the NIFT entrance exam are required to meet the NTA NIFT exam eligibility criteria 2025 as specified in the brochure. As per the previous year's NIFT eligibility criteria, candidates who cleared 10+2 or are appearing this year are eligible for BDes and BFTech NIFT admission. Moreover, the maximum NIFT age limit is 24 years as of August 1 of the year of admission.

NIFT Eligibility Criteria 2025
Before proceeding to the NIFT 2025 application process, candidates must know all the details required to meet the eligibility criteria. NTA will release the NIFT 2025 eligibility criteria along with the official brochure at its website - nift.ac.in. The entrance exam will be conducted online for the candidates to provide admission into its design courses at all NIFT campuses. The detailed eligibility criteria will be updated for the candidates to adhere to accordingly. Meanwhile, here are the eligibility criteria of NIFT as per previous year.
NIFT Eligibility Criteria - Age Limit for NIFT Entrance Exam
There is certain age limit for NIFT entrance exam for each course. The NIFT age limit for the candidates to meet the eligibility criteria is given below according to the course.

BDes and BFTech | To be eligible for NIFT undergraduate courses, the candidate’s age should be 24 years or less as of August 1st of the admission year. This is however the NIFT age limit for OBC and General candidates. For the candidates of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/ Person with Disability (PWD) categories, the NIFT age limit for BDes and MDes may be relaxed by a 5-year period. |
M.Des., M.F.M and M.F.Tech | For the postgraduate courses, there is no age limit prescribed for the candidate. |
NIFT Lateral Entry | To get into the NIFT lateral entry scheme, the NIFT age limit for OBC and General candidates is 24 years as of 1st August of the year of Admission. The upper age limit may be relaxed by 5 (five) years period for the candidates of Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribe/ Persons With Disabilities (PWD). |

The important aspect of obtaining admission into NIFT is to meet the minimum educational qualification required. The aspirants applying for the NIFT exam have to thoroughly check the eligibility criteria and ensure that they meet the academic requirements to proceed further. NIFT Exam Eligibility for BDes and BFtech
Should have passed the 10+2 examination from any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education / State Board New Delhi / Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi. OR
A pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of 5 subjects. OR
Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to the 10+2 system. OR
General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri-Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level/ International Baccalaureate (IB).
NIFT Eligibility Criteria for Postgraduate Students
Many students ask can I join NIFT after graduation? Yes one can join the post graduate courses of NIFT after graduation. The eligibility and age limit for NIFT entrance exam is different for the postgraduate courses. there are three postgraduate level courses and the criteria for each is given below.
NIFT Eligibility Criteria for MDes
Minimum three years of diploma completion from NIFT or NID
(OR) Completion of graduation in any discipline from any Institute / University recognized by law in India.
NIFT Entrance Exam Eligibility for MFTech
Should have completed B.F.Tech course from NIFT (OR) B.E / B.Tech. degree from any Institute / University recognized by law in India.

The standards set by the NIFT for a candidate to meet the eligibility requirements are categorized as below.
Who can join NIFT courses after completion of the 12th?
For admission into the undergraduate courses, the candidates who have passed their 12th class are eligible to appear in the NIFT entrance exam.
For the candidates who are currently pursuing their 12th/ final year of college/ final year of diploma and are unable to submit their exam results during admission or counselling, then their admission depends on the following terms and conditions. They are:
Candidates below 18 years old have to submit an affidavit on Rs. 10 non-judicial stamp paper in the prescribed Proforma duly signed by the parent/guardian. Submission of a false document is not acceptable and is a punishable offense.
Submission of the qualifying degree certificate of the candidate to the campus or joint director of that college on the prescribed date.
Admission will be declared as void or null if the candidate fails to submit the required certificates.
Proof of examination clearance certificate to be produced for provisional admission by the candidate in case the result is not declared.
Candidates seeking provisional admission must bring the date sheet/Principal’s certificate/admit card as proof to show the exam completion status.
The above point applies to the candidates who took the compartment/supplementary exam in the 12th class or final year of graduation/diploma.
Candidates seeking provisional admission will also be considered, only if their result has not been declared by the institution/university. In any other case, their admission will be liable and cancelled under the provisional admission category.

Many a times there are queries like which subjects are compulsory for NIFT? According to the NIFT - BFTech course eligibility criteria, the candidates should have passed their 12th class from any of the recognised Boards of Central/State Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi/Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi with Mathematics and Physics as mandatory subjects. Hence, maths subject is required for the BFTech course.
NIFT Eligibility Criteria- Important Points
Some of the norms for the candidates to be eligible for appearing in the NIFT. Apart from the NIFT entrance exam eligibility criteria mentioned in the above table, the following are a few of the norms on which students must be eligible to apply for NIFT in a certain condition.
Students appearing in the final exam of the qualifying exam could also apply for NIFT 2025.
If the Class 12/ final year / final semester exam result is not yet announced by the date of the NIFT counselling procedure, then students will be strictly provisional subject to the following conditions.
Students will have to submit the final result of the qualifying exam before September 2024.
Candidates have to submit duly sign an affidavit of Rs. 10 on a non-judicial stamp paper. The candidate’s parent/ guardian must sign the affidavit if he/she is less than 18 years of age.
Candidates seeking provisional admission as the final result of their qualifying exam are awaited for declaration, then students have to submit proof that they have passed all the papers of the previous years/ semesters of the qualifying exam.
Students who are appearing for compartment examination(s) of 10+2 standard will be considered only for provisional admission. But, they are required to pass the compartment exam from the same board. If candidates fail to complete the, then the candidature will be automatically cancelled from the provisional admission and forfeiture of the entire fee.

Hello aspirant,
The nationwide Institute of Fashion Technology offers a nationwide entrance exam called NIFT for admission to its fashion design programmes.
Every course has specific requirements that must be met in order to apply. For NIFT, there is no minimum age requirement, however it is evident that passing the 10+2 exam is a requirement in order to be admitted to any undergraduate programme in fashion design.
You cannot be admitted because you are in class eleven. However, you can apply to NIFT for experience and practice, and if your application is accepted, you can take the entrance exam. If you pass, however, be aware that you will not be able to retain your results for admission.

Yes! If you want to pursue your under graduation from nift after 12th or even if you are appearing for12th exam then you are eligible to apply for the exam. There are several courses offered by nift which includes undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes.
Age (Undergraduate degree programmes) -
- General - the maximum age should be less than 24 years as on 1st august in the year of examination
- Reserved category - 5 years relaxation

NIFT 2023 ELIGIBILITY - B.DES admission
1. Aspiring students must have completed a 10+2 board exam from any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education/State Board New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi or,
2. Any Board/Public School/University Examination conducted in India or abroad which is equivalent to the 10+2 system and is accorded by the Association of Indian Universities or,
3. If candidates complete the General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Sri Lanka/ Cambridge/) at the Advanced (A) level/International Baccalaureate (IB) then, they are eligible to apply or,
4. Students will also be eligible if they have passed the 10+2 examination conducted by the National Open School with at least five subjects or,
5. Diploma of 3 or 4 years which is recognized by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education.
Age limit - Candidates must be of 23 years of age as of August 1, 2022. However, candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Person With Disability (PHP) get a relaxation of 5 years
Eligibility for B.F.Tech admission
1. Students must pass the Class 12 exam in the 10+2 pattern of examination with Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects from any recognized Central/ State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi or,
2. Any Public School/Board/University Exam in India or in foreign countries which is equivalent to a 10+2 system with Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics as a mandatory subjects. It must be recognized by the Association of Indian Universities or,
3. General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination(London/ Cambridge/ Sri Lanka) at the advanced (A) level with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/International Baccalaureate (IB) or,
4. Diploma of 3 or 4 years in any programme of engineering which is recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education or,
5. A passing grade in the Higher Secondary Education Examination held by the National Open School with at least five subjects - Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics

Hello,
For BVoc courses in interior design, separate entrance exams are conducted by the concerned colleges. By giving NIFT you can only get admission in BDes and MDes courses in NIFTs and some other participating institutes.

In 2022 NIFT Entrance Examination was conducted in 32 cities. The candidates have to select the preference of the examination cities while filling the application form. Based on the availability, preferences of the examination cities you will be allotted an examination center. You have to appear for NIFT Entrance Examination in the allotted examination center as per the given schedule. You can select any city where examination is conducted while filling your preferences, make sure that you select the cities such that you can commute on the day of examination easily. Next year the list of examination cities may increase or decrease, the cities may vary.
