The Footwear Design & Development Institute has released the FDDI AIST eligibility criteria 2026 at fddiindia.com. Candidates planning to obtain FDDI admission need to meet the eligibility criteria that have been released by the authorities on the official website. Along with the minimum qualification and age limit, the eligibility criteria of FDDI AIST 2026 also include a provision for candidates who have yet to receive the scores for their qualifying exam. Candidates must make sure they meet the eligibility criteria before submitting the FDDI application form. The institute will conduct the FDDI AIST entrance exam on May 10, 2026. FDDI AIST Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who qualify for the entrance exam will be eligible for FDDI admission for B.Des and M.Des programmes. If any candidate fails to meet the FDDI eligibility criteria 2026 at any stage of the admission process, they are likely to be disqualified.

FDDI 2026 Eligibility Criteria for BDes

The authorities have released the FDDI 2026 eligibility criteria through the official brochure. Candidates can check the FDDI AIST eligibility criteria as provided below.

For the B.Des Programme

  1. A candidate who has cleared

  • 10+2 in any stream from a recognised Board or

  • Any School or Board, or University examination in India or a Foreign country that is recognised by AIU as an equivalent

  • School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a five subjects minimum

  1. Candidates who have appeared for the examinations mentioned above but have yet to receive their scores or certificates will be granted provisional admission. They need to submit the scores by September 30, 2026 to avoid having their admission revoked

  2. Age limit for the Bachelor’s programme shall be 25 years as of July 1, 2026.

For the M.Des Programme

  1. M.Des. (Footwear Design & Production): Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised Indian university. Candidates without a prior design background require bridge courses with 2-3 relevant subjects.
  2. M.Des. (Fashion Design): Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised Indian university.

  3. Candidates Awaiting Results: They will be eligible for provisional admission, but the final result must be submitted by September 30, 2026.

  4. Age Limit: No age restriction for M.Des. or MBA programmes.

Candidates who appeared for any examination and whose result has not been declared at the time of admission, shall be eligible to apply for admission to the Bachelor’s Programmes while being granted provisional admission and shall be required to submit the result of the requisite examination on or before September 30, 2026.

FDDI Eligibility For Admission Through National Level Entrance Exam

The criteria for processing score obtained against the FDDI AIST Rank are as follows:

  • The aggregate percentile of any national-level entrance examination score (UG:CUET, UCEED etc., PG: CUET-PG, MAT, CAT, CEED etc.) may be equated at par with the FDDI percentile. Marks corresponding to the nearest percentile of the candidate who appeared in the FDDI AIST will be allowed, and the candidate having a score/percentage/percentile in the entrance examinations may be positioned just below such candidates.

  • Students having valid scores are needed to apply online for admission. However, they may be given an exemption from appearing in AIST. In case they appear for the AIST examination, the rank for such candidates shall be determined based on the candidate’s performance in AIST.

FDDI 2026 Eligibility Criteria for MDes

  • Master of Design (M. Des.) in Footwear Design & Production: Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from any Institute / University recognised by law in India. However, the bridge programme comprising two to three relevant subjects may be offered with the existing M.Des. programme to the students who don’t have any design background to provide necessary design inputs in order to understand the design concepts.

  • Master of Design (M.Des.) in Fashion Design: Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from any Institute / University recognised by law in India.

FDDI Eligibility: Communication Standards

FDDI admissions require the candidates to be proficient in English, both written and oral. Having a good command of the English language will help the candidates to perform well in the test as well as the interview, since the medium of the entrance test is English.

FDDI AIST Application Form 2026

The institute will release the FDDI AIST registration form 2026, on December 20, 2025 in online mode. Candidates who are interested in appearing for the FDDI AIST 2026 entrance exam must fill out the application form online by providing the required information and documents. Before filling out the application form, candidates must ensure that they fulfilled the FDDI admission eligibility criteria. The application fee and mode of payment are online only. Students need to prepare for the exam based on the FDDI entrance exam syllabus.
