National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) invites applications from aspirants, eligible and interested in getting direct admission to the third semester of undergraduate programmes across its campuses. NIFT Lateral Entry Admission (NLEA) provides an opportunity for admissions to the candidates who have completed their diploma/degree in relevant/related fields of Fashion Design & Technology.
Those, who have acquired diploma/degree, have to appear for an All India Entrance Exam to get lateral admission in the second year. The admissions to as many as 336 seats are strictly on merit based on the performance of candidates in written test, studio test/technology aptitude test, and a personal interview.

World University of Design
Aspirants, who fulfill the eligibility conditions, are given opportunities for professional growth and career improvement through lateral entry into courses of the second/third year. While applying, lateral entry candidates must mention the details about their diploma.
Located in Karnataka, Manipal University offers lateral admissions to UG design programmes. To apply, candidates must have passed 10+3 year diploma in fashion design from a recognized board.
Interested candidates can apply online by filling the required details in the application form.
There is no entrance test. Admission is done on the basis of marks obtained in diploma.
Unitedworld Institute of Design
UID, a constituent college of Karnavati University, offers admission for a limited number of seats in the second and third year of its B.Design programme. These admissions are subject to availability of seats, which are allotted on the basis of choice-cum-merit.
Candidates have to submit a written application form in the prescribed format along with an application fee of Rs.2000. The application fee can be paid by NEFT/RTGS, cheque or demand draft.
The admissions are done on the basis of evaluation report of students’ portfolio by the evaluation committee of the Institute, marks scored by them in first and second semester (for second year admission) and first, second, third and fourth semester examination (for third year admission).
Pearl Academy offers admission under Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) entry scheme for students with advanced standing. Students, who are studying in other universities/colleges can apply for lateral admission to Pearl Academy via APL/Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) entry. The Academy’s admission panel carries out an assessment of the learning outcomes for the lateral entry admissions.
Candidates have to submit duly filled and signed APEL application form along with a properly filled SOP. Official transcripts of qualifications (attested photocopies), copies of class 10 and 12 mark sheets and portfolio link or file should also be submitted.
The candidates are called directly for a personal interview.
LISAA School of Design
Students, who are studying in other universities/colleges, can apply for lateral admission in LISAA School of Design. Admissions are given to the second or third year in any specialized course.
The criteria for admission is portfolio assessment and personal interview. Admissions are subject to approval from the University.
Indian Institute of Art & Design
IIAD offers lateral entry into various programmes (fashion design/communication design/interior architecture & design) to the students, who have successfully completed the previous year(s) of their design degree/diploma programme from a nationally or internationally recognized design institute.
The application form for the lateral entry is available at the admissions office of IIAD.
The form can also be downloaded and sent to the admission department.
Eligible aspirants can also apply online.
Admissions are done on the basis of personal interview and portfolio.
Lovely Professional University
LPU offers admission to the second year of Bachelor in Design programmes to the eligible candidates. Admissions are given on the basis of candidates’ performance in the qualifying exam.
Candidates must have passed with 50% aggregate marks in diploma (Fashion or Garment Technology) [(3 years after 10th) or (1 year/2 years after 12th)] or equivalent, subject to qualifying LPUNEST.
If the marks scored in diploma are 70% or above, then LPUNEST is exempted, and the candidate may apply for admission.
(5% relaxation to North East states and Sikkim candidates/Defence Personnel and their Dependents/Wards of Kashmiri Migrants)
Eligible candidates can fill an online application form to apply for lateral entry. They also need to upload the required documents for verification.
