Students can understand what important key updates has been from UCEED previous year questions according to the UCEED 2027 Exam Pattern:
Increased emphasis from UCEED 2024 (two questions,100 marks) makes strong drawing and sketching skills critical for students for the UCEED 2027 exam.
Consistent Importance of Visual & Spatial Reasoning :
Highest weighted topic across all the UCEED exams have been, evolving from year to year, focussing on the fundamentals of the design thinking.
According to the UCEED 2026 exam, the NAT section of Part A has seen time taking calculations according to the students.
The introduction of the Partial Marking system was introduced in UCEED exam 2023 rewarding the importance of detailed understanding.
Focus on applying the knowledge and principles of the design in the UCEED questions, making it important for design thinking and not only memorizing everything.
For the UCEED exam, time management is crucial as outlined in the past. Regularly take UCEED mock tests and solve UCEED sample Papers under timed conditions. This helps you practice handling time constraints and boosts confidence.
Here are some Important topics for UCEED preparation that are curated by the experts after close analysis of UCEED past 5 year question paper for PART A section to help students in their UCEED preparation:
Logical Reasoning
Questions from the Logical Reasoning section have consistently appeared in UCEED exam in the last 05 years from topics like: Coding-Decoding, Direction and Distance, Arithmetic-word Problems etc.
Visual Reasoning
The Visual Reasoning section in UCEED previous years included questions from topics like Transformations (Rotation and Reflection), Identifying the Hidden Patterns ,and completing the visual sequences.
Numerical Reasoning
The Numerical Reasoning section includes topics like Area/Volume (Mensuration Questions), Fundamental Algebraic Questions and Indirect Application of Mechanical Concepts.
General Knowledge
The General Knowledge section in UCEED previous years included questions from Logos, paintings, art history, latest news from the design field and famous designers.
Given below are some tips to prepare for the Part A section of the UCEED 2027 exam curated by the experts:
Strengthen Class 8–10 Maths basics (algebra, mensuration, ratios).
Practice logical reasoning daily to improve speed and pattern recognition.
Train your brain for mental rotation and visual observation.
Learn to identify patterns quickly (number series, shape changes, coding rules).
Take and analyse UCEED mock tests and UCEED sample papers to understand weak areas.
Students are advised to be thorough with the GK section such as names of important people, dates and logos, paintings and cultures from different brands and art movements as GK questions have seen more weightage in recent UCEED exams.
According to the UCEED Syllabus 2027, questions in Part B for the UCEED exam comprises the sections- design thinking aptitude and sketching-based.
One of the important skills in the UCEED exam is the ability to present ideas visually. Questions that are generally asked from this section include Design thinking, innovative ideas and Storytelling. The ability to swiftly and efficiently use visual sketches to demonstrate innovative and new ideas is one of the most crucial skills that students need to learn. Students are also advised to go through Most repeated UCEED questions with solutions to help them prepare better.
Drawing questions also include perspective drawing, storyboarding and product sketching. These are usually made with free-flowing lines and curves and don't follow any rules or require any special instruments. For the UCEED exam, one of the important abilities for students is to draw human figures, gesture and object drawings.
Start by practicing basic geometric shapes like circles, squares, triangles, and rectangles. These are the building blocks for more complex drawings like one-point, two-point, and three-point perspectives. Learn Drawing Techniques from UCEED Toppers to understand how to prepare and score high.
As the UCEED exam closely examines innovation skills and design thinking ability for students, candidates must practice their memory skills by drawing and sketching everyday objects/scenarios. Students are advised to check Tips to Sketching Human Figures and Interaction for UCEED 2026 to score better.
Try to come up with new solutions for existing products and take feedback from peers and family members on how practical the solution is to develop better design thinking ability.
A lot of questions in the UCEED exam are usually based on Product or Object Design, therefore students should work on designing innovative new products. Solve as many UCEED previous year’s drawing questions as possible to get speed and accuracy.
Draw everyday objects around you like cups, books, fruits, etc., to understand form and structure.
It is one of the most important skills that needs to be developed by the students to creatively communicate their solutions. Students should be critical about the questions and create solutions. Practice creating scenes or compositions that tell a story.
