UCEED Drawing Question 2026

Ques 1: Krishna, an 8-year-old boy, is taking his pet dog – Scooby, for a walk in a park. Scooby is walking in front of Krishna. The boy is holding a 3 feet long leash in his left hand and an ice cream cone in his right hand. Sky is clear and it is 5 o’clock in the evening. They are walking on a pathway which is lined with lamp posts on both the sides. These lamp posts are equidistant from each other. Scooby heard a sound, stopped walking, turned back and looked at Krishna.

Draw this scene from the point of view of the dog.

Evaluation Criteria:

• Attention to details and observation (10 marks)
• Sense of perspective (10 marks)
• Visual composition (10 marks)
• Quality of lines (10 marks)
• Light and shade effect (10 marks)

Note:

• Make pencil sketches only
• Do not use colours

Solution:

Approach:

• Read question carefully- dog’s point of view, therefore keep low eye level (viewer = dog)
• Draw pathway using one-point perspective
• Place Krishna in mid-ground, slightly off-center
• Show leash starting from foreground to Krishna’s left hand
• Draw ice cream in right hand (usually dominant hand)
• Lamp posts on both sides, equidistant, smaller in distance
• Evening scene → soft light and long shadows
• Use light, clean pencil lines, no heavy outlines

Ques 2: Students often travel in long distance trains and stay at dormitories while going for interviews/exams from one city to another. Design a compact and portable toiletry organizer that helps students carry, store, and dry their items hygienically. It should be secure, easy to maintain and identifiable as a personal belonging.

• Choose compact foldable organizer
• Add hook/strap for hanging during use
• Use mesh pockets for airflow and drying

• Include zip pockets to prevent mixing
• Add drain holes at bottom for wet items
• Provide water-resistant inner lining
• Add name tag window for personal identification
• Show open view (hanging, compartments visible)

UCEED Drawing Question 2025

Ques : A visit to a museum or a zoo is always something we look forward to with much excitement. But such visits are very tiring too; after about an hour or so we look for a place to sit – a chair or bench, that is never nearby. What if we could carry our own chair everywhere? Design a portable seating device that you could carry in your backpack or hand bag. It should be light enough to carry around, small enough to fit into your bag, easy to use, and good to look at.

Show the seating device when:

1. it has just been taken out of the bag and
2. it is ready to sit on.

Approach:

• The most crucial first step is to thoroughly read the question and understand what is asked.
• Make at least three perspectives for questions about product design. Your score will rise if you shade textures and materials correctly.
• Make sure your presentations are tidy and clean.

Concept: A portable inflatable seat with a foldable backrest.

Folded State:

• When deflated, the seat is small enough to roll up and carry in a pouch.
• Includes a hand pump stored in the pouch.

Expanded State:

• Inflatable seat with an integrated backrest, secured by straps for stability.
• Ideal for uneven surfaces, providing cushioned comfort.

UCEED Drawing Question 2024

A six-year old girl is going to school for the first time. She needs to carry a lunch box in her school bag. Her lunch can contain typical Indian food items (both dry as well as liquid food items, such as Roti, Rice, Dosa, Dal, Sambar, etc.). Design a lunch box for her, considering her needs. Sketch your design, and visually explain the features of your design along with clear labels.

Nandu is giving a dance exam in online mode in front of a laptop kept on a table. His mother is prompting from behind. • A rat is spotted inside a school canteen.
• A school boy is afraid and standing on a stool/chair.
• A brave school girl is chasing the rat out of the canteen.
• A tiffin box is falling on the floor.
• Two school bags and two water bottles are kept on a table.
• A few plates are broken and lying on the floor.
• The canteen owner is watching this in shock, standing on top of the counter table.

Approach:

• For the perspective drawing section, students should focus on shading and depth to produce realistic scenes for these drawing questions.
• Human figures and other objects should have proportions that are appropriate for their surroundings.
• Shading to show depth and material will help you score better in the exam.

UCEED 2021 Drawing Question

Q. From the below description, sketch the scene from your point of view.

You are sitting in a well ventilated drawing room. It is 9 in the morning and sunlight is streaming through the window on the East casting shadows on the floor. A cat is resting on one of the sunlit patches. A newspaper is placed beside a cup of hot tea on a small side table. There are three freshly watered potted plants in the room; one on the floor and two on the window sill with the watering jug next to it.

UCEED 2020 Drawing Question

Q. From the below description, sketch Prof. Shastri’s desk from her usual point of view.

Prof. Shastri was checking Math papers when she got a call from her husband. Mr. Shastri was upset that she forgot the diet lunch box that he had specially prepared for her. He was also annoyed that she left the dining table in a mess with all her papers and books piled up. He further accused her of cheating on her diet by eating canteen Pakodas and Aloo Parathas for lunch. Prof. Shastri tried to pacify him by saying that she had been working since morning as she needed to finish checking papers and writing her research proposal by 5 pm that evening and that she even had a headache from skipping lunch. Mr. Shastri was not convinced and reminded her that she hadn’t even read the diet book he had sent and was probably using it as a paperweight in her office. He concluded that she wasn’t serious about her health and proceeded to declare that he will not be cooking for her from then on. Prof. Shastri hung up the phone and in frustration ordered her fifth cup of tea from the canteen and her second plate of Pakodas.
