According to the UCEED Syllabus 2026, questions in Part B for the UCEED exam comprises the sections- design thinking aptitude and sketching-based.
One of the important skills in the UCEED exam is the ability to present ideas visually. Questions that are generally asked from this section include Design thinking, innovative ideas and Storytelling.
The ability to swiftly and efficiently use visual sketches to demonstrate innovative and new ideas is one of the most crucial skills that students need to learn. Students can practice making concepts more aesthetically beautiful by presenting them with few details, proper proportions, and simple lines.
Drawing questions also include perspective drawing, storyboarding and product sketching. These are usually made with free-flowing lines and curves and don't follow any rules or require any special instruments.
For the UCEED exam, one of the important abilities for students is to draw human figures, gesture and object drawings. Therefore, students need to practice human figures, daily objects, and everyday basic scenes regularly.

It is very important for aspiring students to first practice and develop basic drawing skills with at least half an hour every day sketching exercises.
Start by practicing basic geometric shapes like circles, squares, triangles, and rectangles. These are the building blocks for more complex drawings like one-point, two-point, and three-point perspectives to improve your ability to accurately depict objects and scenes.
Focus on bettering pencil strokes, shading techniques and scale and proportion of the elements in the sketch for the UCEED exam to answer questions neatly. Practice various shading techniques like hatching, cross-hatching, stippling, and blending. This will give depth to your drawings. Understand light and shadow, as this is crucial in depicting 3D forms.
As the UCEED exam closely examines innovation skills and design thinking ability for students, candidates must practice their memory skills by drawing and sketching everyday objects/scenarios. Try to come up with new solutions for existing products and take feedback from peers and family members on how practical the solution is to develop better design thinking ability.
A lot of questions in the UCEED exam are usually based on Product or Object Design, therefore students should work on designing innovative new products. Draw everyday objects around you like cups, books, fruits, etc., to understand form and structure.
It is one of the most important skills that needs to be developed by the students to creatively communicate their solutions. Students should be critical about the questions and create solutions. Practice creating scenes or compositions that tell a story. For example, sketching a person in a specific action or a detailed landscape.
Students can solve as many UCEED sample questions and mock tests as that will help them to understand the kind of questions asked in the UCEED exam and also develop a sense of confidence for the actual exam day.
Make time every day for practicing for part-B of the UCEED exam. Practice drawing questions and establish a daily routine. Here, consistency is crucial. To relax your hand and enhance the quality of your lines, begin with easy warm-up drawings.
Since the UCEED exam has time constraints, students find the exam difficult to complete on time. Therefore, it is crucial that students come up with original, imaginative, and creative solutions within the allotted time.
During the UCEED exam, stay calm and focus on completing each drawing step by step. Avoid rushing and focus on clear, clean lines. It is important to stay calm and focus on the task at hand.
Students can go through some UCEED previous year questions for Part-B of the exam and understand the language and format of the questions. Here are some UCEED previous year’s drawing questions with approach on how to solve the part-B questions are given below for the students to see and prepare:
Ques: On a Sunday morning, 5-year-old Geet, her grandmother and father are cleaning their old garage. It is a big garage with large open windows near the ceiling. It has an old bicycle, a football and other objects. The father is cleaning the cobwebs. The grandmother, while cleaning, finds her old guitar which she used to play during her college days. She gets excited and starts playing it as Geet starts dancing around. The garage also has a lot of old memories of Geet's sporty grandmother and her studious father. Geet's school friend stands at the door of the garage watching this whole scene.
Draw this scenario from the friend's point of view.
Note:
Use only pencil
Do not use colours
Approach:
The question mainly attempts to check the student’s perspective drawing abilities. The question also aims to see how well the student has understood the concept of proportion and light and shadow.
This can be drawn in a one-point or 2-point perspective of the room.
As this question demands human figures in the scene, students need to focus on the proportions for human figures with respect to each other and other elements in the room.
Ques: The competitive examinations are finally over and you are going on a holiday. You are at the nearest railway station with your family and relatives, waiting for the train that you can see, arriving. The platform is bustling with activity. Other travellers with luggage, vendors and porters (and whatever else you are likely to observe) are also on the platform. Imagine and draw what you see, giving prominence to your family and relatives.
Approach:
For the perspective drawing section, students should focus on shading and depth to produce realistic scenes for these drawing questions.
Human figures and other objects should have proportions that are appropriate for their surroundings.
Shading to show depth and material will help you score better in the exam.
Ques: A visit to a museum or a zoo is always something we look forward to with much excitement. But such visits are very tiring too; after about an hour or so we look for a place to sit – a chair or bench, that is never nearby. What if we could carry our own chair everywhere? Design a portable seating device that you could carry in your backpack or hand bag. It should be light enough to carry around, small enough to fit into your bag, easy to use, and good to look at.
Show the seating device when:
1) It has just been taken out of the bag and
2) It is ready to sit on.
Approach:
The most crucial first step is to thoroughly read the question and understand what is asked.
Make at least three perspectives for questions about product design. Your score will rise if you shade textures and materials correctly.
Make sure your presentations are tidy and clean.
