According to the UCEED 2026 Exam Pattern, the UCEED exam has two parts: Part A (Computer-based with NAT, MSQ, MCQ) and Part-B (Drawing and design aptitude). Understanding the weightage of each section according to the UCEED Syllabus 2026 is crucial for better time management and high scoring.
For this article, we have analysed the UCEED question papers from 2018-2022 for study of the consistent trends, exploring the potential areas, and revisiting the evolving formats for section wise strategy for ‘high-scoring’ areas.
This section of the UCEED exam with no negative marking and answer being an absolute value, it becomes an important and must attempt the section. Let’s talk about the most scoring type of questions in this section.
Fundamental of Mathematics and Geometry: Basics of mathematics(Areas, comparison of areas, percentage, Ratios, and algebra) and geometry(Areas, volumes, and perimeter-based questions) asked frequently.

Logical Reasoning and Puzzle: Analytical Thinking, Series Completion(both Numerical and Figure-based), Coding-Decoding, and logical deductions have been asked frequently.
Spatial Aptitude and 3D Visualisation: Visualising the Volumes in 3D space, Counting the surfaces for the given figures, Identifying the matched pairs, Understanding the Effects of mechanical operations like Cutting/Drilling of solids.

Observation-Based Question: Where the common repeats are counting the elements and identifying the differences, and recognising visual patterns.

This is a slightly challenging section in the UCEED exam with multiple correct answers and negative marking, making a little cautious section to attempt for students, although the questions asked in the past were from moderate to easy in difficulty level. The most common types of asked questions are as follows:
Visual Reasoning and Pattern Identification: These questions asked in the previous years included the Transformations(Rotation and Reflection), Identifying the Hidden Patterns ,and completing the visual sequences. Questions on tessellations, paper folding, and views are most frequently asked.

Design General Knowledge And General Awareness: This type of question deals with the famous designers, artists, painters, etc. movement, art history, and current affairs related to design, architecture, culture and heritage, technology,, Logo identification and design principle and application-based questions.

Analytical Reasoning: this includes questions based on deducing the information, analyse the scenarios, and solve the logical puzzles.
MCQ’s section for the UCEED exam has one correct answer, and negative marking thus accuracy becomes critical to score. This sections has the maximum weightage of the the diversity of the questions:
Design Theories and Principles: Understanding and Application of the fundamental design principles, like balance contrast, Rule of Thirds, Compositions, Colour Theory and forms etc. become critical in this section.
English Language and Comprehension: In the past the questions have been asked from the Verbal Ability, Vocabulary Grammar, and Reading Comprehension, which were little time consuming but very scoring aspects of this section.
Fundamentals of Science and Technology : One most overlooked but a sure shot asked section in the UCEED examinations are the questions asked from the ‘Fundamental concepts and application from the Science’, like working principles, Manufacturing Process etc.

You can access the free mock test series for the UCEED 2026 exam directly through the provided link. Taking mock tests is the single most critical step for UCEED preparation, as the exam is highly focused on aptitude, visualization, and analytical skills, rather than textbook knowledge. Consistent practice with these mock tests will help you: (1) Understand the Complex Pattern: Get familiar with the Part A (Aptitude) sections, including Numerical Answer Type (NAT) and Multiple Select Questions (MSQ). (2) Improve Speed and Time Management: UCEED is time-intensive, and mock tests help you learn to allocate time effectively between the diverse question types (Visualisation, Spatial Reasoning, Communication, etc.). (3) Practice Sketching (for Part B): While Part A is computerized, practicing the simulated Part B (Drawing/Sketching) challenges will sharpen your creative skills needed for a high score.
