The BITSDAT 2026 exam pattern requires candidates to go through three levels before the final results. Candidates should appear for the BITSDAT exam after which the shortlist will be announced. After the shortlist for the entrance exam has been released, candidates will have to upload their portfolio. Following the portfolio upload they have to appear for an online interview. Candidates who appear for the exam need to remember the selection process. The BITSDAT selection process is as specified below.
Step 1: Students submit their merit and entrance test scores, and on their basis, they are either selected or rejected.
Step 2: Selected students are then called in for the Portfolio Evaluation or the Interview Round.
Step 3: Students who qualify the portfolio or the interview round receive an offer letter to the BITS Pilani Design School, Mumbai.

Candidates appearing for the BITSDAT entrance exam need to know the syllabus. The syllabus for BITS Design School entrance exam consists of four divisions such as Analytical and Logical Reasoning, Design Thinking and Problem Solving, Visual Sensitivity and Language Comprehension as well. English Language and Comprehension | Students are assessed on their language ability and day-to-day communication. The aspects that are covered under the English Language and Comprehension section include synonyms, antonyms, idioms and phrases, spellings, sentence completion, vocabulary etc. |
Logical and Analytical Reasoning | Under the Logical Reasoning section, students will be expected to answer questions related to verbal as well as non-verbal reasoning. |
Visual Sensitivity | Under this section, students will be tested on their ability to analyse, and prove how good they can be at visual reasoning. Through this section, the examiner will be able to assess a student's ability to understand and make sense of complex ideas. |
Design Concepts and Aptitude | Students will be assessed on the knowledge they hold about the design industry. Students will be evaluated based on their design aptitude, awareness of current trends in the fashion industry, etc. |

Candidates appearing for the BITSDAT exam will have to answer MCQ’s aimed at objective type questions and subjective type questions focused on Drawing or sketching.
Candidates who have been selected after the BITS Design School admission process need to pay a total fee of Rs.10,90,000 for the first year.
The BITSDAT is conducted in an online (computer based) mode at designated exam centres across India.
