    SMEAT follows a similar pattern for its examination so it is advisable to aspiring students to go through the previous year question papers to get an idea for the type of questions asked and to understand the SMEAT exam pattern better.

    The SMEAT 2026 exam pattern consists of test 1 and test 2 which are described below.

    Test

    Description

    Test 1

    • This is a general test to check the candidate’s ability.
    • The candidates who appeared for the UCEED exam are exempted from test 1 if their All-India Rank (AIR) is 600 or below.
    • The candidates appeared for the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) between March and June (the year will be specified as per the official brochure) and if the composite score is 1100 or above, then they are exempted from taking test
    • NOTE: To be exempted from test 1, the candidates have to submit the results of UCEED/SAT at the time of application if they have appeared for UCEED or SAT exams.

    Test 2

    • This is a creative competition test.
    • Test 2 is mandatory for all applicants.
    • Test 2 is based on the concept or theme which will be sent to the candidates before the test dates.
    • Candidates to showcase their creativity skills, knowledge, and capabilities to complete the test.
    • NOTE: The applicants will be exempted from test 2 in case they have appeared for the CEED exam and scored an all-India rank (AIR) of 500 or below. The applicants have to submit the CEED results at the time of application.

    Stages of Examination- Test 1 and Test 2

    The Srishti Manipal Entrance & Aptitude Test (SMEAT) is conducted in two stages for its testing and filtering process. Students should also understand the exam pattern for better SMEAT exam Preparation. First stage which is common for all the students appearing for SMEAT is a general test for analyzing ability and reasoning of the students. For undergrad courses, students who applied for the UCEED exam and have All India Rank of 600 or below can be exempted from the test-1 but they should be able to provide the result at the time of the application. Postgrad students have to submit a SOP (statement of purpose) with this round explaining their background and achievements while also describing why and preparedness for the course they are applying for and how it aligns with their goals.

    Test 2 is mandatory for all applicants and is based on the context or theme according to the discipline applied by the students. Postgraduate students have submission of EOC (Evidence of compliance) as part of their test 2 where they are needed to showcase their projects they worked upon based on the context of the discipline they have chosen according to the guidelines given to them. For Postgrad courses, students who applied for the CEED exam and have All India Rank of 500 or below can be exempted from test-2 but they should be able to provide the result at the time of the application.

    How to Crack SMEAT 2026

    SMEAT is a national level design entrance exam held by Srishti Manipal Institute to offer their Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses. Courses that are offered include B.Des, BFA and B.Voc. The B.Voc course is offered for a duration of 3 years. Admission to BFA and B.Des programme is for 4 years. For Postgraduate courses, MA, M.Des, M.Plan and MFA are offered which are 2 year programmes. For Postgraduate courses SMEAT aptitude test is followed by an interview round.
