NID DAT Eligibility Criteria 2021: Candidates who are seeking admission in B.Des at National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad must check the eligibility criteria of NID DAT 2021. 1. Aspirants from general and general EWS categories must be upto 20 years of age on or before June 30, 2021
2. OBC-Non Creamy Layer/ST/SC candidates get a relaxation of 3 years.
3. PwD reserved category candidates get an exemption of 5 years
Aspirants who have passed or currently appearing in the class 12 examination in any discipline (Science, Arts, Commerce, Humanities etc) in the academic year 2020-2021 from any recognized board such as CBSE, IB, ICSE or its equivalent are eligible for NID DAT 2021.

10+2 final examination from a central or state board recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)

General Certificate Education (GCE) examination at the Advanced (A) level taken in London, Cambridge or Sri Lanka is also equivalent to the qualifying exam mentioned in the above table.
The three-year full time Diploma course (post class 10) is approved by the AICTE which is offered by the Board of Technical Education of any state in India or Union Territories as mentioned on
Candidates who took the 10+2 final examination or its equivalent from foreign countries/overseas or a board which is not mentioned above are required to take a certificate from the AIU to confirm that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the 10+2 examination conducted in India. Candidates must submit the certificate during the document verification.
The admission of NID DAT 2021 is based on the national level entrance test known as the Design Aptitude Test (DAT), which is conducted in 2 stages – Prelims and Mains. NID offers a Bachelor of Design program across eight courses.
To take admission in any of the courses, candidates have to be eligible and qualify for NID DAT 2021.
Candidates from the general and general EWS categories must be born on or before 1 July, 2001. However there is a three years relaxation for the candidates from OBC- Non Creamy Layer/ST/SC categories. PwD reserved candidates must be born on or before 1 July, 1996 to be eligible to apply for admission.
Foriegn National in Overseas candidates must be born on or before 1 July, 2001 to be eligible to appear in the NID DAT 2021 entrance exam.
Candidates must have passed or appear in the 10+2 examination in any streams from the recognized boards such as CBSE, IB, ICSE or its equivalent. Aspirants who have passed the exam equivalent to the above mentioned qualifying exam can also apply for the admission entrance test.
NID DAT 2021 application form will be released most likely in the first week of October, 2020. Aspirants can fill the registration form till the third week of November with late fee.
NID DAT 2021 exam will be conducted in two stages- Prelims and mains exam. However to appear in the mains exam of NID DAT aspirants need to clear the prelims exam.

NID DAT MAINS will include drawing as well as sculpture or model making. It will be a three hour paper and the maximum marks that cam be obtained is 100. Unlike the prelims, it will not be in different parts of contain any objective type of aptitude based questions. It will purely be skill based. Hope that answers your query.

In AIEED, there are two tests- GAT (General Ability Test) and CAT (Creative Ability Test). GAT consists of topics like Design sensibility, Logical reasoning, Design related awareness and Awareness on global issues and concepts comprehension. CAT will assess you on Written and visual skills, Design thinking, Lateral thinking and creative problem solving and Awareness of design principles.
Thanks Harish, However, what you are saying is true for MDes only (which is 150 minutes paper). My query was related to BDes which is 180 minutes paper. As far as I know there is no such notification for BDes exam. It seems unfair to all the students who were not allowed the full 3 hours for both sections.
