NID Studio Test - Overview
NID is one of the most prestigious exams for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses based on the DAT (Design Aptitude Test). NID offers various Bachelor of Design (B. Des) and Master of Design (M. Des) courses.
Before appearing for the NID studio test, you must know that to get admission to NIDs, you need to clear the three-stage entrance exam.

NID Prelims is a subjective and objective type question-based exam. After qualifying for the prelims, you go for the studio test. Studio test for NID admission includes questions on topics like drawing/sketching, model making, group discussions, presentations, etc.

How to Prepare for NID Studio Test 2023
Before proceeding with the preparations, let's have a look at one of the NID studio test questions papers. Watch it and get an idea of what to ask; Although no question is likely to be repeated, you will get a clear idea of the type of questions asked.
NID Studio Test Questions
Previous year's NID studio test questions will allow you to gather more information about what to ask in the interview process.
Question 1: Doodle Exercise - 12 boxes are given (4 on each sheet). Fill in the lines in the given boxes and do what you think. You can turn the box to any side. It would be great if you could give your sketch a title.
Question 2: Design a Playful Toy (No use of adhesive) with the following materials:
Bamboo Sticks - 12
Ping Pong balls - 3
Coloured OHP sheet - 2
Bangles - a set of 6
Wool - 1m
(Write about your model)
Question 3: Make an object using the following material:
Hacksaw blade
Clay
Sponge
Water
The material should be appropriate for the given setting. Given is an image of a corporate house building with a desk, a chair, a laptop, and a background.
Question 4: Audio Visual Test
Visual Test:
Images of certain items such as fan brooms and shoelaces were shown and identified.
Pictures were shown and structures such as wire cages, walls, and soil were to be identified.
Audio Test:
Sound clippings were played and we had to identify clapping, coins, machines, etc.
Audio clippings like wolf howling, elephants, etc. on a moonlit night were played and the source had to be identified.

NID Studio Test Preparation Tips
Check below mentioned tips and tricks to follow a preparation strategy for the NID studio test.
Firstly, go through the entire syllabus of the NID DAT studio test and make a list of all the topics asked.
Make sure you are familiar with the exam pattern of the NID DAT studio test. Read all the details to get a better understanding of the type of questions asked in the exam.
Make a detailed study plan keeping in mind how many days are left for the exam and the syllabus you have to study. You divide the time equally and focus on all the topics.
Stick to the timetable you have prepared and follow it diligently. Try to be as consistent as possible with your preparation, and don't let your preparation slack off.

Let your mind set free and explore as many creative endeavors as possible. Remember that cracking this exam is only possible with creativity and out-of-the-box thinking.
Practice making models from as many materials as you can. Include some basic materials like wire, fabric, thermocol, rubber sheet, paper, clay, wool, threads, needles, plastic, plaster of Paris, hardboard, foils, etc. in your production.
Time yourself for each exercise and complete the tasks within the allotted time.
Pay attention to cleanliness when working with all materials and making doodles or models. The examiners also mark the candidates' poise and attitude toward work.
Solve previous NID studio test questions papers and also practice through mock tests.
In the NID studio test, some audio-visual tests are conducted to check the observation skills of the candidate. This module includes exercises in aspects such as mental observation, observing, and recording things such as objects, environment, and culture.

NID Portfolio Presentation and Interview Round are conducted separately for each specialization followed by NID Studio Test at an appropriate venue. In the end, this is very important.
