NID DAT M.Des 2020 - National Institute of Design successfully conducted NID DAT M. Des 2020 in offline mode on December 29, 2019. The entrance exam is held in two stages - Prelims and Mains. Candidates can check NID DAT M.Des 2020 result on February 18. The shortlisted candidates in NID DAT prelims will be eligible for appearing in mains exam. The authorities will issue the admit card for National Institute of Design DAT M.Des mains in first week of March 2020. The result for the same will be declared in first week of May 2020. NID DAT 2020 counselling will take place in the third week of May. The qualified candidates in Design Aptitude Test (DAT) will get admission in Master of Design (M.Des). The authorities released the admit card of NID DAT M.Des 2020 for prelims on December 20. The authorities had closed the editing window for NID DAT M.des application form 2020. The registration process of NID DAT for M.des programme closed with the regular fee on November 18 at 2 pm. However, those candidates who could not fill the form with a given timeframe could do it from November 18 at (6 pm) till November 21 at (12 pm) with late fee. The authorities had extended the last date to fill the application form of NID DAT 2020 to November 18. The authorities had released the application form on October 1, 2019. As many as 347 seats will be offered across various design programmes across NID’s campuses that are located in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Gandhinagar. As per NID DAT M.Des exam analysis, the paper was moderately difficult, however, students could complete the paper on time. There were no technical glitches in the question paper.
The result of NID M.Des Prelim will be declared on February 18 , 2020. Candidates can apply for rechecking from February 18 to 21, 2020. The result of the Mains exam will be declared in first week of May 2020. A separate merit list will be prepared for all the candidates who belong to the following categories -OPEN, OBC-NCL, SC, ST & PwD on the basis of their scores in Prelims. It is to be noted that NID does not send separate scorecards individually to anyone. National Institute of Design will declare NID DAT M.des final result in first week of May 2020. The seat allotment of NID DAT M.Des will be held in last week of May 2020. The detailed procedure of NID DAT M.Des 2020 seat allotment will be announced by the institute later. The qualified candidates will have to attend the counselling and seat allocation procedure in person, along with the requisite documents. As per the latest notification, they can submit their provisional graduation certificates till June 12, 2020. NID M.des allotment 2020 will be done on the basis of candidates’ preference of discipline that has to be filled at the time of submitting the application form.

The admit card of NID DAT M.Des 2020 (Prelims) released on December 20, 2019. Candidates downloaded and took a printout of the same. They had to carry the admit card to the exam centre on the exam day. The reporting time was mentioned on the admit card along with the complete address of the test venue. The qualified candidates in prelims can download NID DAT M.Des admit card 2020 for mains in first week of March.
Before filling the application form, candidates should know the eligibility criteria of NID DAT M.Des 2020. The eligibility criteria mention age restriction and academic qualification.
Age Limit
Educational Qualification
Aspirants who belong to general category should not be more than 30 years as on June 30, 2020. Only those aspirants can apply who were born on or after July 1, 1990. The upper age limit for reserved categories is 33 years as on June 30, 2020.
Applicants must have a bachelor degree of minimum of four years in any specialisation after completing Class 12 or equivalent from any recognised university or institute.
OR
Those having a bachelor degree of three years in any specialisation after Class 12 or equivalent can also apply.
Those, who have done a full-time diploma of minimum four years in design/fine arts/applied arts/architecture after Class 12 from a recognised institute or university are also eligible to apply.

Candidates should know that the application form of NID DAT 2020 was released in online mode on October 1, 2019. The deadline to submit the application form was November 18, 2019 without late fee. Those who missed the deadline, they could submit the application form till November 21, with late fee. The authorities had closed the window to edit NID DAT application form. Step 1- Sign up/Registration
Applicants have to register first in online mode by providing a valid email address and a valid mobile number. The login credentials are be sent to candidate’s email ID after successful registration. They have to enter the login and password to proceed further.
Step 2- Fill Personal and Educational Details
Applicants have to enter their educational and personal details in NID DAT M.Des 2020 application form. They can apply for a maximum of two disciplines.Post submitting the details, they have to click on ‘Save and Proceed’ button.
Step 3- Upload Documents and Signature
Applicants have to upload all the documents as per the specifications mentioned above in the article.
Step 4- Make the Payment and take Printout

The exam pattern of NID DAT M.Des released by the National Institute of Design, which consists of two stages- prelims and mains.
NID DAT M.Des Prelims Stage
The prelims paper is of 2.5 hours comprising 100 marks. There will be a Common Design Aptitude Test (CDAT) and a discipline-specific domain test that assesses the design aptitude of the test-takers. The NID DAT M.Des Prelims paper has an objective as well as subjective questions. The total duration of NID DAT prelims will be 2.5 hours.
Candidates who are applying for two disciplines in M.Des programme, they will have to appear in DAT Prelims comprising of the CDAT [Common Design Aptitude Test] and TWO discipline-specific tests. The total duration of DAT Prelims will be 4.5 hrs. (30 minutes for CDAT and 2 hrs. each for discipline specific test).
NID DAT M.Des Mains Stage
Candidates are shortlisted to appear for the Mains stage on the basis of the Prelims scores. The DAT Mains for M.Des. programmes consist of two parts:
Studio Test- The total marks for this test is 100 and candidates will be given three hours to complete the paper. The language of the question paper is English.
Interviews- There will be a separate interview for each discipline that will be conducted after the studio test. It will be held at the same centre as that of the studio test.
National Institute of Design closed the correction window to edit the application form of NID DAT 2020 on November 23 at 2: 00 p.m. Candidates must note that the details related to DOB, category, email ID, eligibility criteria, citizenship and the discipline applied for could not be edited.
