Candidates seeking admission at the National Institute of Design must clear NID Design Aptitude Test (NID DAT). The NID DAT entrance exam will be conducted by the NID authorities to offer design admissions. To appear in the NID DAT, it is mandatory for the candidates to meet the prescribed eligibility. NID DAT is the only gateway to gain admission at NID. NID DAT eligibility criteria for BDes and MDes are as follows.
General and general EWS categories candidates must be born on or after July 1, 2004 (up to 20 years of age), OBC-Non Creamy Layer/ST/SC candidates get a relaxation of 3 years. Whereas PwD reserved category candidates get an exemption of 5 years.
Aspirants who have passed or currently appearing in the class 12 examination in any discipline (Science, Arts, Commerce, Humanities etc) in the academic year 2024-2025 from any recognized board such as CBSE, IB, ICSE or its equivalent are eligible to appear for NID DAT.
Candidates born on or after July 1, 1993 belonging to general category are eligible to apply. However, 3-year relaxation is given to the reserved category candidates.
Aspirants who have a bachelor's degree from any recognised university or institute can apply for admission NID MDes admission.
Candidates who have completed a full-time diploma of a minimum of four years in design/ fine arts/ applied arts/ architecture after Class 12 from a recognised institute or university are also eligible to apply for NID DAT.
Eligible candidates can fill out the NID DAT 2025 application form online by visiting the official website - admissions.nid.edu. Aspirants are advised to keep the required documents beforehand to avoid chaos and last-minute hiccups at the time of filling out the application form.
Candidates have the liberty to choose the NID DAT exam centres while filling out the registration form. The NID exam centres are the cities where the entrance exam of NID will be held. The steps to apply for NID DAT are as follows.

The National Institute of Design (NID) will release the NID DAT admit card after the completion of the registration process. NID DAT admit card will be available to download at admissions.nid.edu. Applicants can download the admit card online by providing the required login credentials. The hall ticket includes details such as the candidate's name, roll number, date & time of the exam and address of the exam centre.
If any discrepancies are found in the details mentioned on the hall ticket then candidates must report to the concerned authority for rectification. NID DAT admit card is an important document that candidates must carry to the test centres along with valid identity proof. Candidates who qualify for NID DAT Mains will be called for counselling and seat allotment at their preferred NID branch.
NID fee structure varies for Indian nationals, SAARC and African countries and the rest of the world students. Students have to pay the NID tuition fee every semester whereas other components of the NID fee are to be paid on yearly basis. NID Design Aptitude Test commonly known as NID DAT is a design entrance exam conducted every year at a national level for the applicants seeking admission to B.Des and M.Des programmes. After qualifying the exam candidate can get admission in prestigious design institutes such as NID Ahmedabad, NID Gujarat, NID Bangalore, NID Kurukshetra, and NID Vijayawada. Aspirants can fill the NID DAT 2021 registration form by providing the required documents and details.  The exact date is not yet announced. Keep an eye on the official website for the latest information. NID DAT entrance exam consists of two exams  prelims exam and mains exam. The officials have not yet declared the schedule for NID DAT 2021.
