• Candidates belonging to the general and general EWS category born on or after July 1, 1994 are eligible to apply for the exam. 
• Reserved category candidates such as OBC-NCL, SC, ST should be born on or after July 1, 1991. 
• The PwD category candidates should have been born on or after July 1, 1989.
• For foreign national, candidates should have been born on or after July 1, 1994.

Educational qualifications

• Candidates to have a bachelor's degree of a minimum 4 years in any specialisation, after 12th standard from a recognised institute or university.                                                     (Note: Candidates must have appeared for all subjects and backlogs, if any, by June 2026)

• Applicants must have completed 3-year bachelor's degree in any specialisation from a recognised board or university.
• Students who will be appearing in the final year of the bachelor's degree exam or full-time diploma programme and may have not received the final degree certificate are also eligible. • (Note: Candidates must have passed the bachelor's degree by August 2025)

The National Institute of Design has closed the NID M.Des 2026 application correction window on December 4, 2025. Candidates were allowed to make corrections through their login.
