How to get admitted to NID?

National Institute of Design is the leading design institution in India offering admission to the design aspirants. Candidates willing to seek NID admission 2025 have to go through the NID admission process 2025. Aspirants applying for Bachelor of Design (BDes) and Master of Design (MDes) programmes need to appear for the NID DAT exam.

NID Educational Qualification for BDes

• Candidates who have passed class 12 in any stream (science, arts, commerce, humanities) from any recognized board such as CBSE, IB, ICSE or equivalent are eligible for admission at NID.

• Candidates who appear for 10+2 in that academic year are also eligible to apply.

MDes - NID Eligibility Criteria

NID offers MDes programme for a duration of 2.5 years. The MDes eligibility criteria includes age limit and also academic qualification described below.

To be eligible for the NID MDes programmes, the candidates must have one of the following qualifications:

• Minimum 4-year of bachelor degree in any specialisation, after 12th standard or equivalent to 12th from any university and/or institute recognized by the law in India.

(or)

• Minimum 4-year full-time diploma of duration in Design/ Fine Arts/ Applied Arts/ Architecture, after 12th standard or equivalent to 12th standard, from university and/or institute recognized by the law in India.

• Minimum of 3-year bachelor degree in any specialisation, after 12th standard or equivalent to 12th standard from university and/or institute recognized by the law in India.

• Candidates who are in their final year of bachelor degree / full-time diploma programme are also eligible to apply.

NID Application Process 2025

Candidates can register for the NID entrance exam 2025 in online mode. The NID 2025 application forms are available at the official website - admissions.nid.edu. NID Counselling Process

NID counselling is the final stage to offer NID admission. The authorities conduct the NID counselling process for the students who are shortlisted in the DAT prelims and DAT mains exams conducted. The selected candidates will be required to go through a document verification process and confirm their seat allotment.

The NID admission seat allocation will be based on the candidate’s merit list, category, and the seat availability. Also, the candidates need to pay the NID admission fee for seat confirmation.

The NID authorities will release the NID DAT cutoff for the entrance exams - prelims and mains.
