    Model Making and Material Handling Section

    Model-Making: The NID Studio Test assesses students' innovation, creative, material handling, problem-solving abilities, and execution speed through model-making tasks. The many model-making techniques, such as theme-based models, functional product designs, problem-solving challenges, character models, abstract models, and structure stability models, are usually asked in the NID Studio Test.

    Material Handling: Material handling questions expose you to a variety of materials that we encounter in our daily lives. These questions are intended to fulfill a specific problem statement using a model-based approach.

    Materials Handling

    It is important to first familiarize yourself with materials in the test and practice on them with different methods and techniques. Some commonly provided materials in the NID Studio Test include:

    • Paper & Cardboard – Folding, cutting, rolling, layering.
    • Wire & Thread – Bending, twisting, weaving, forming frames.
    • Clay & M-Seal – Molding, sculpting, shaping.
    • Foil & Thermocol – Carving, texturing, assembling.

    Concept Explanation

    • Top: Shows the handle made of two cups facing the opposite directions, held together with the given string.
    • Middle: The string connects down to the main body of the structure.
    • Bottom: Four cups are bonded together, match sticks are used to provide a good support, preventing topple down as the product is to be used by elderly people with shaky hands.
