Candidates proceed to the second and final phase of the NID DAT which is NID Mains (Studio Test), following the NID DAT Prelims Exam. NID 2026 Exam is tentatively scheduled for January, 2026. Students are nervous about their exam preparations as the test draws near. Model-Making: The NID Studio Test assesses students' innovation, creative, material handling, problem-solving abilities, and execution speed through model-making tasks. The many model-making techniques, such as theme-based models, functional product designs, problem-solving challenges, character models, abstract models, and structure stability models, are usually asked in the NID Studio Test.

Practice geometric shapes and organic curves with origami and paper folding.
Create interlocking structures with slot fitting and layering.
Curling and rolling are used to create curved and flowing shapes.
For sturdy and stable models, use box and cylinder construction.
Wire Manipulation
Bending and twisting can be used to form persons, objects, or abstract artworks.
The Armature Framework is used to create model skeletons.
Intricate details can be added by weaving and interlacing.
Clay & M-Seal Modeling
Create streamlined, elegant shapes using hand molding and sculpture.
Using instruments like combs and needles for texturing and detailing.
Clay and other materials are combined for attaching and layering.
Structure & Stability Testing
Load-Bearing Models – Build towers, bridges, or structures that can hold small weights.
Balancing Techniques – Distribute weight efficiently.

As 563 rank in nid dat exam cannot guarantee admission in designing college but it could be a good chance to explore some campus as if you are not from general category as category role plays an important role . But now you can do one thing focus on your strengthening your protofile or preparing for the studio test (bdes) or interview (mdes).

No, IPU (Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University) does not accept NID DAT Prelims score for admission to the B.Des (Bachelor of Design) program.
Instead, IPU conducts its own entrance test or may consider CUET (UG) scores for B.Des admissions, depending on the latest admission guidelines. Always refer to the university's official prospectus for the year you're applying to for the final admission criteria.
