Their responsibilities are to sketch the design, create the pattern, select fabric, sewing and fitting the garment to the individuals. Whereas a fashion stylist does not make clothes but they create a look. They are responsible for selecting clothing and accessories which one will wear in different events or personal work. People nowadays are so peculiar about fashion and what they are wearing. Fashion stylists can work for celebrities, movies, or a person. However, both professions need to understand about fashion and trends.
Using outfit and accessories, the fashion stylist coordinates with clients and creates a look for them as per the occasion. For example, celebrities may hire a fashion stylist to style them for red carpet events or personal occasions. Stylist, they also work in movies to create the entire looks of the theme. Like we can take the examples of Padmavat movies, the entire look of the film was amazing. It’s all thanks to the fashion stylist who creates a matching style and ravishing look throughout the movie. It is a profession that usually works with the designer, photographers, celebrities or brands to assist them in choosing the right style which includes everything that is outfit, shoes, hairstyle and accessories to create an elegant look. A fashion stylist must have a sense of fashion trends and customer needs. In order to create a magnificent look, fashion stylists need to be mastered in the art of visual balance as they have to choose the right outfit suiting the purpose of the event or occasion, body type and personality of the person who wears the outfit. Fashion stylists need to understand fashion trends, jewellery, lifestyle, makeup, colours terns, skin and body type.
However, fashion designers create outfits by designing them. They research on consumer behaviour and market trends and design a collection that will be purchased by the customer and appreciated in the market. Designers need to understand the trends, good in sketching and illustration, must have an idea about fabric, pattern making and sewing. They must have a skill in analysing the fit and grading the outfit. Well if the outfit is for mass production, then there is the third party who collaborates with the factory to produce the garments as per the plan.
