Often people think that fashion always involves glamorous runways or celebrities with hectic life. But there are different types of fashion design that offer a way different lifestyle than this. Fashion design types of work depend on the type of fashion degree one has pursued. Different kinds of fashion designers can have different kinds of lifestyles which include both the glamorous world of runways to the corporate environment of an office.

Types of Fashion Design

The fashion design categories are explained below to make the readers understand the different work types in fashion design that exist.

Haute Couture Fashion

Derived from the French term haute which means 'high' or 'elegant' and couture denoting 'sewing' or 'dressmaking' the readers can already understand that it is one of the most luxurious types of design in fashion. These types of fashion designers create custom-fitted items of luxury that can be afforded only by the wealthiest people. The different types of clothes designed in different types of clothes designed in haute couture are paid attention to and are never the same. This type of fashion design requires excellent craftsmanship and long hours of labour to create the most stunning and exclusive piece of clothing.

Luxury Fashion

Luxury fashion is a type of fashion design which is more focused on the quality and prestige required to satisfy the wealthy people. The fashion designer types of this category create exclusive pieces of expensive garments that can be sold in a limited amount. Due to the Limited amount of production the quality of these items are very high. A lot of liberals are involved to maintain the superior quality of this type of fashion. Many celebrities demand for this type of fashion design because of the limited production.

Fast Fashion

Another type of fashion design is Fast fashion. It includes the rapid production of clothes that brings the latest trends to the consumers. Fast fashion brings the items that are mass produced in machines and there is not much amount of individual labour that is required. Fast fashion as the name suggests refers to how quickly a trend is available from the runway to the stores. These items are usually inexpensive, and mass produced and hence are available quickly. With the culture of wearing new outfits every day and the social media influencing these clothing items can be frequently replaced without feeling guilty about it. That's why sometimes it is called disposable fashion as the trends are disposed of.

Economy Fashion

Economy fashion refers to all the mass produced in expensive clothes that are made to be available in the market. These clothes are not very long lasting and the quality of fitting of these clothes are also not good. They are mass produced and often neglected while production. The quality of economy fashion is worse than the fast fashion. These are made only to make profits with cheap labour and material that fulfils the high demands of the customers. The kinds of fashion designer involved in economy fashion only aim at producing the maximum amount of clothing in the most efficient way. The prices of these items are not high, and the budget conscious customers can find cheap items that are trendy. The mass production of these items and the high consumer demand satisfies the pockets of the fashion designers in this type of work.

Ready to Wear Fashion

The ready to wear fashion is a different type of clothes design that is tailored in advance. Type of design in fashion is usually premade and is also called off the rack. These clothes have been produced in advance and the customers can purchase them based on the size and they do not require any tailoring. This is the exact opposite of haute couture as they are not Taylor made but are mass produced for all the consumers. Known as prêt-à- porter, these clothes are usually mass produced and affordable.
