NIFT Mumbai admission process requires the students to fulfil the eligibility criteria provided by the institution. The NIFT eligibility criteria are different for undergraduate and postgraduate students. The detailed NIFT Mumbai course admission eligibility is given below.
In undergraduate programmes, the institution provides two courses which are B.Des and B.F.Tech.
For both the courses the students need to be under the age of 24 on 1st August of the year of admission.
The students also need a minimum educational qualification of 10 + 2 or equivalent from any recognised Institute.
For the B.F.Tech course, the students need to have Mathematics as a compulsory subject in 12th. There is no stream restriction for the BDes course.
At the postgraduate level, the students are provided with three courses, which are M.Des, M.F.Tech and M.F.M.
For all three courses, there is no age limit.
The students must have completed a graduation degree from a recognised institute in India or have a diploma of minimum 3 years from NIFT or NID to be eligible for the post-graduate course.

The NIFT Mumbai counselling process is the final step to offer admission. The shortlisted students have to register themselves to participate in the NIFT counselling that commences after the declaration of NIFT results. The registration process of the counselling needs details like state domicile, date of birth, personal details etc., along with filling in the choice of institutes and locking them. After the release of final merit ranks, candidates must log in to the NIFT Counselling Portal, register using their application number, upload required documents, and pay the counselling registration fee.
Candidates must bring/upload: (i) Class 10 & 12 certificates/marksheets, (ii) Graduation marksheets (for PG), (iii) Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS), (iv) PwD Certificate/UDID card, (v) Transfer/School Leaving Certificate, (vi) Medical fitness certificate, (vii) Valid ID proof, (viii) Passport (for NRI), (ix) Artisan Card (if applicable), (x) Migration Certificate, (xi) Provisional degree (for final-year candidates).

The candidates after registering, uploading the documents and paying the registration fee, will need to verify the documents online. The online document verification will be carried out by the reporting NIFT campus within its scheduled date. The students need to choose their campus and program in order of preference after the documents are verified. Choice locking facilities are available for the students as per the schedule. The candidates can take a printout of the locked choices and keep it with them for further reference. Seat allotment results are released online after each round on the official NIFT website. Qualified candidates must download the provisional allotment letter from the portal.
Candidates must submit their willingness for the allotted seat by choosing one of the following options:
1. Freeze: Candidate accepts the allotted program and campus with no further participation in subsequent rounds.
2. Float: Candidate accepts the current seat but wishes to be considered for higher preference programs/campuses in later rounds.
3. Slide: Candidate accepts the seat but wishes to be considered for higher preference programs within the same campus in subsequent rounds.
To confirm the seat, candidates must pay the required acceptance fee within the specified time. After fee payment, they must report to the allotted campus on the scheduled date for admission formalities.
Non-payment of the fee or failure to report may lead to cancellation of the allotted seat.
National Institute of Fashion Technology will release the NIFT Mumbai cutoff at nift.admissions.nic.in. The NIFT Mumbai cutoff for UG and PG admission will be released in the form of opening and closing CMR (Common Merit Rank).

Yes, a diploma holder in Computer Engineering can apply for the NIFT entrance exam , but only through the lateral entry route.
NIFT allows candidates with a 3-year or 4-year engineering diploma from a recognized board to apply for B.F.Tech (Fashion Technology) through lateral entry. The diploma must be approved by AICTE or the State Technical Board.
The age limit is usually 24 years for the general category.
So yes, you are eligible, as Computer Engineering is an engineering diploma.
