The National Institute of Fashion Technology, Bangalore, admits students based on the NIFT entrance exam. The NIFT 2026 Application will commence soon in November 2025. Before getting into the NIFT Bangalore application process, the students must understand that they need to fulfill certain eligibility criteria to be eligible for admissions at NIFT Bangalore. The Bangalore admission eligibility varies for undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
The students who want to take admission into undergraduate courses at NIFT should have completed a 10 + 2 level of education from a recognized board. The students must also be under the age of 24 on August 1 of the year of admission. The B.Des students do not have any restrictions in the stream. But B.F.Tech aspirants need to have physics, Maths and chemistry in the 12th class.
For the post graduate courses the students need to complete an undergraduate degree or 3 years of diploma from NIFT or NID. There are no age restrictions for the postgraduate course.
Getting an admission to NIFT Bangalore requires students to apply and appear for the NIFT entrance exam and situation test, which will be followed by NIFT counselling and seat allotment. Aspirants can check the step-by-step procedure to get admission to NIFT Bangalore.
To get admission in NIFT Bangalore, candidates have to first fill out an online NIFT application form 2026. The NIFT Bangalore application process wll requires students to fill up the NIFT Bangalore registration form with details such as their name, address, parents' name, educational qualification, choice of centre etc. along with the upload of relevant documents such as their photograph and signature. The students will have to pay a nominal non-refundable fee to finish the application form submission.
NTA conducts the NIFT entrance exam every year to select the students for admission into various NIFT campuses. The National Institute of Fashion Technology exam, or the NIFT Bangalore entrance exam for undergraduate and postgraduate levels are conducted differently. There are three parts in the entrance exam which are CAT, GAT and Situation Test/ GD and PI. The GAT exam is compulsory for all the NIFT aspirants which test the students design aptitude, general knowledge, English skills etc. The CAT exam is only for the B.Des aspirants. The students who qualify the GAT and/or CAT need to appear for the NIFT Situation test at undergraduate level and GD and PI at postgraduate level.
The final NIFT results will be declared in April 2026 tentatively and the NIFT Bangalore admission process will be underway. The admissions into NIFT Bangalore will be done based on the candidate's choice and rank in the exam. Eligible candidates are required to register for the counselling and complete document verification and choice filling to secure NIFT Bangalore seat allotment. The choices of the NIFT campus and course will be available during the NIFT Bangalore counselling. The students need to take the following steps in order to take the following steps to register themselves for the NIFT Bangalore counselling.
The students will be required to register themselves online for which they need to follow these steps in order to complete the online registration process for e-counselling:
The candidates who have qualified must have obtained a CMR.
The candidates need to provide their roll number, application number, name, mother's name, Date of birth which will be authenticated by the NIFT authorities. Once it is authenticated successfully, the candidates need to create a password and keep it confidential.
After the password is generated the candidates need to login again. They can use the roll number and password to login again and fill up the remaining application form.
The candidates will have to submit the registration form after filling up information regarding date of birth, father's name and details such as qualifications and contact information etc.
The required documents are needed to be uploaded, a list of which will be shown on their candidate's credentials.
It is optional to verify the candidate’s email address and number, which can be done by clicking on the link available on the website. The candidates need to provide an OTP that will be generated after clicking on the link.
The documents of the registered candidates will be verified online. This online document verification will be carried out within its scheduled date in the reporting NIFT campus. The candidates who are found to have discrepancies in the document verification will need to resubmit the document to complete the verification process.
After the document verification the students will be required to select the preferred campus and program in order of preference. The students can lock the choices and take a printout of the locked choices for further reference. The students should lock their choices only after they have made the final decision.
Candidates can check their NIFT seat allocation on the website. The qualified students will need to download the professional allotment letter and they must also indicate their willingness to either accept or reject the seat. The students can choose three options: freeze, float and slide. By selecting the freeze option the students are accepting the program offer. By choosing the float option the students are preparing to go for a higher choice across all the campuses and programs in the next round. By choosing the slide option the students indicate that they are considering the higher preference only in the same campus in the next. The candidates to decide to confirm the seat must be the required free amount within a specified time. The candidates are also required to report in the campus within the scheduled dates.
Along with each round of seat allotment, the authorities also release the NIFT cutoff. The NIFT Bangalore cutoff marks will be the opening and closing ranks based on which admissions are done. Yes, a diploma holder in Computer Engineering can apply for the NIFT entrance exam , but only through the lateral entry route.
NIFT allows candidates with a 3-year or 4-year engineering diploma from a recognized board to apply for B.F.Tech (Fashion Technology) through lateral entry. The diploma must be approved by AICTE or the State Technical Board.
The age limit is usually 24 years for the general category.
So yes, you are eligible, as Computer Engineering is an engineering diploma.
