For undergraduate courses, the authorities conduct the NIIFT entrance exam, which is followed by situation test and interview. Final Merit of marks will be compiled on the weightage based on Examination.

Final merit will be compiled on the basis of all the three levels of the test - entrance exam, situation test and interview. The authorities will create a common merit list for General and Reserved categories /sub categories ( if applicable ) candidates.
Weight age of Written Examination, Situation Test and Interview

In case two or more candidates secures same score, the rank of the candidate in the merit list securing equal marks will be in accordance with the following criteria:
The candidate securing higher aggregate percentage marks in qualifying examination shall be taken higher rank in order of merit
In case a tie still exists, the candidate senior in age shall rank in order of merit.
Candidates who will be listed in the merit list will be eligible to participate in the NIIFT 2024 counselling and seat allotment process. Counseling for 85% of seats for Punjab residence and 15% of seats for outside the Punjab shall be taken up simultaneously, however reserved category candidates shall be considered in General Category first before being considered in respective category. Moreover, after the second counseling, if seats in reserved category still remain unfilled will be converted to general category in third counseling. If seats are still left vacant, such seats will be open for eligible candidates to be filled on first come first serve basis for eligible candidates on submission of fee till the last date allowed by PTU for admission.
