Although there are eighteen NIFT campuses across the country, a similar NIFT PhD admission process is followed. The NIFT PhD admissions are conducted through two rounds of screening. The NIFT PhD admission criteria includes a written test followed by the research proposal presentation and the interview. A detailed description related to NIFT PhD admission has been given underneath.
The NIFT PhD admission pattern includes two rounds which involving presentation of research proposal and screening process or personal interview and entrance exam. The NIFT PhD admission pattern has been discussed below.
Round 1: The 1st round will be conducted in two parts. First is the presentation of the research proposal, and second is the written exam and interview. A thorough list of required elements in a research proposal is listed underneath. The proposal can be from previous work/studies carried out by the candidate.

Round 2: The second round of the screening process is the written exam and a personal interview. Here the student's domain knowledge, communication skills, aptitude, and research-oriented knowledge will be judged by the panel. The two-hour written test will consist of both subjective and objective questions. Names of the qualified candidates will be published on the NIFT website. These candidates will be eligible for the next round of interviews.The following criteria of students will be exempted from appearing the written test
Master's Degree holders with minimum 10 years of professional experience (teaching/ working) in the areas of research relevant to NIFT.
Master's Degree holders who have minimum 10 years of experience and have cleared and hold a valid score on UGC NET, CEED, CSIR (JRF) similar tests.
The authorities will release the NIFT PhD 2025 dates at nift.ac.in. Based on previous year trends, NIFT PhD registration 2025 will begin in January. Moreover, The NIFT PhD entrance exam will be conducted in May. The tentative dates for PhD admissions are mentioned in the table below. .

How to apply for NIFT PhD admission 2025?
Go to the official NIFT website and click on the PhD application form link.
The application must be filled with correct information and a research proposal must be attached along with the same as per prescribed format.
Upload required documents as per specifications.
Pay the registration fee.
The written exam has two sets which are objective and descriptive in type. The test timing is scheduled to be 10 AM- 12 PM. The candidates can start reporting at 8:45 AM and do so till the gate closes at 9:30 AM.
The set 1 of the written test has 30 objective type questions which have to be answered within 45 minutes. The subjects include research aptitude, communication skills, logical reasoning abilities which have 10 questions each. Each question carries a mark making the total marks 30 for Set 1.
The Set 2 begins after a 15 minute break and has 2 questions of 10 marks each. The research disposition is a descriptive type question which requires the candidate to write for 1 hour.

The final PhD entrance exam results of NIFT will be announced on the official website in the second week of July. The candidates can download the pdf format of the result from the website. In the pdf the candidates name, roll number, application id, category and result status will be mentioned. An allotment letter will be sent to the candidates separately through mail.
There are two types of PhD programmes in NIFT. The part time programme and the full time PhD programme, both of which are discussed below.
The duration of the full time programme is about 4 years within which the scholars submit their thesis. The scholars also have the option to submit the thesis in 3 years which is calculated from the date of their initial registration for the PhD Programme. In special cases the limit can be extended to 5 years after which the registration will be automatically cancelled. The financial assistance will not be provided in these extension periods.
The Part time PhD program allows the candidate to submit the thesis in 6 years from the date of their initial registration for the PhD Programme. This too can be extended up to 7 years under special circumstances after which the registration will be automatically cancelled.

The nationwide Institute of Fashion Technology offers a nationwide entrance exam called NIFT for admission to its fashion design programmes.
Every course has specific requirements that must be met in order to apply. For NIFT, there is no minimum age requirement, however it is evident that passing the 10+2 exam is a requirement in order to be admitted to any undergraduate programme in fashion design.
You cannot be admitted because you are in class eleven. However, you can apply to NIFT for experience and practice, and if your application is accepted, you can take the entrance exam. If you pass, however, be aware that you will not be able to retain your results for admission.

NIFT 2023 ELIGIBILITY - B.DES admission
1. Aspiring students must have completed a 10+2 board exam from any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education/State Board New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi or,
2. Any Board/Public School/University Examination conducted in India or abroad which is equivalent to the 10+2 system and is accorded by the Association of Indian Universities or,
3. If candidates complete the General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Sri Lanka/ Cambridge/) at the Advanced (A) level/International Baccalaureate (IB) then, they are eligible to apply or,
4. Students will also be eligible if they have passed the 10+2 examination conducted by the National Open School with at least five subjects or,
5. Diploma of 3 or 4 years which is recognized by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education.

In 2022 NIFT Entrance Examination was conducted in 32 cities. The candidates have to select the preference of the examination cities while filling the application form. Based on the availability, preferences of the examination cities you will be allotted an examination center. You have to appear for NIFT Entrance Examination in the allotted examination center as per the given schedule.
