The Industrial Design Centre, IIT Bombay, will be conducting the Common Entrance Exam for Design 2026 for candidates seeking admission to the postgraduate-level design programmes at IITs and other participating institutes across the country. The CEED Entrance exam 2026 will be conducted on January 18, 2026, on a Sunday between 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The CEED admit card 2026 has been opened for downloading from January 2, 2026. Candidates who wish to rectify discrepancies in their admit card for the CEED 2026 exam can do so until January 8, 2026, 5:00 PM.

CEED 2026 Types of Questions

The CEED 2026 entrance exam is divided into two parts, Part A and Part B. Being aware of the different types of questions in CEED 2026 will help candidates strategise and score as highly as possible. The CEED 2026 marking scheme is a major factor of the CEED exam to know how to get a good CEED score. Since both partial marking and negative marking are applied to the questions asked in the CEED entrance exam, candidates need to choose or write their answers carefully to score as best as possible. The CEED 2026 marking scheme has been specified below for reference.

  • 4 marks for each question

  • No negative marking

MSQ - Multiple Select Questions

  • 10 questions in total

  • May have one or more than one correct choice

  1. Full Marks: + 4 If only all the correct option(s) is/are chosen and no incorrect options are chosen.

  2. Partial Marks: + 3 If all four options are correct, but only three options are chosen.

  3. Partial Marks: + 2 If three or more options are correct, but only two options are chosen, both of which are correct, and no incorrect options are chosen.

  4. Partial Marks: + 1 If two or more options are correct, but only one option is chosen and is a correct option and no incorrect options are chosen.

  5. Zero Marks: 0 If no options are chosen (i.e., the question is unanswered).

  6. Negative Marks: -1 In all other cases.

MCQ - Multiple Choice Questions

  • 3 marks for each question

  • 0.5 negative marks for an incorrect answer

CEED 2026 Exam Shortlisting Process

The scores in CEED entrance exam Part A will be used to shortlist candidates using:

  • ? + ( ?/2 ) = ?, for the General Category

  • ? is the average mark, ? is the standard deviation of the distribution of marks obtained by all candidates in Part A of CEED 2026.

  • Candidates in the reserved categories will get a relaxation of 0.9? for OBC-NCL/EWS and 0.5? for SC/ST/PwD.

Part B answer books will be evaluated manually for candidates shortlisted from Part A. There will be no provision for re-evaluation or re-totalling in CEED 2026. The final score will be calculated as - Final score = 0.25 × Marks scored in Part-A + 0.75 × Marks scored in Part-B
