There is no centralised counselling in the IIT M.Des admission process. Each candidate has to apply separately to the participating institute and participate in its selection process.

How Many Candidates Appear in CEED 2026?

As per last year’s data, around 4370 candidates are expected to appear for CEED 2026. Out of this, around 1850 candidates are expected to qualify the exam and assigned a rank. So, the CEED 2026 rank will run from 1 to 1850.

Average Marks in CEED 2026

Average scores represent the halfway mark. The CEED Part A cut-off data for the previous year shows that the average marks for candidates in Part A was around 45 marks out of 150, translating into a percentage score of around 30%.

Considering an average percentage score of around 30% in Part B, a candidate should obtain, on average, around 30 marks out of 100 in Part B.

The total of average marks in Part A and Part B translates into an average score of 75 out of 250, which is expected to be the halfway point in the rankings.

However, the total final marks will change as per the weightage assigned to Part A and Part B. A score of 33.75 will translate into the halfway point in terms of the rankings for the candidates who qualified in the exam and obtained a rank. The calculation is given below.

What is a good score in CEED 2026?

A good score in CEED 2026 is expected to be 55 to 60+ marks for a general candidate, which will give them a good chance of securing admission into the CEED participating institutions. However, it must also be noted that the M.Des admission process at IITs is not uniform. In addition to the CEED scores, candidates will be required to undergo a DAT or a written test and an interview as per the selection criteria notified by the respective institute.
