UCEED 2025 – Key Concerns Of Students

1. Heavy General Knowledge (GK) Component

A large number of students had a considerable problem with the focus on General Knowledge, especially within the scope of the Multiple Choice Questions’ section. Those learners who did not prepare adequately for this subject seemed to have been at a disadvantage, as compared to their counterparts who had a good command of GK.

2. Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Section Without Mathematics

It also came as a surprise to the students as it was not only non mathematician in nature but also departed from the normal UCEED 2025 Part A question paper format. While this made the section easier for some, those who districted themselves from preparing for mathematical questions felt their preparation for such questions was wasted.

3. Easy Drawing Section

The other 2 parts were also thought to be relatively easier. The drawing section in UCEED Part B question paper drew competitive edge especially in relation to scoring good marks. It was felt by a good number of students who had appeared for the examination and were of the opinion that the drawing questions were simpler (train station scene and product design) which should have warranted higher differentiation in the scores.

4. Similarity to 2015-2016 Papers

The resemblance with older UCEED papers or the 2015-2016 is one aspect that students do not like and in particular the pattern of the papers, as the structure of the paper nowadays seems predetermined. Those learners basing their preparations on recent trends did not feel so confident as they actually were.

5. Difficulty Variation Across Sections

MSQ was regarded as quite simple, while the MCQ section was moderately difficult because there was an emphasis on General Knowledge, resulting in a disparity in the global degree of difficulty.

6. Time Management

Some students reported struggling to balance time between the Part A and Part B sections, particularly with Part A having multiple components.

7. Competition and Scoring

With the ease of certain sections (especially Part B and MSQ), students are worried about higher cutoffs and reduced margins for error.

Section wise Analysis for UCEED 2025

Numerical Answer Type (NAT)

Difficulty Level

The difficulty level was Moderate to Easy

Ideal Time

35-40 minutes

Good Attempt

10-12 questions (No Negative Marking)

Focus Areas

Logical and Visual Interpretation

The Major update this year in 2025 is an increased weightage of the Logical and Non-Visual Questions, giving an opportunity to aspirants for a wider variety of question choices. Overall the NAT Section was perfectly balanced for an opportunity for each individual to perform through the time management and subjective strength of an individual in different question types. In comparison to the year 2024 the questions were balanced for easy to moderate in difficulty level and lesser time consuming in solution.

Multiple Select Questions (MSQ)

Difficulty Level

The difficulty level was Moderate

Ideal Time

30- 35 minutes

Good Attempt

12-13 questions(marks for each question but negative marking for every wrong option marked)

Focus Areas

Spatial Ability + Mechanical Aptitude + Fundamental Design Principles

Overall, the MSQ section was easy but time-consuming and equally opportunistic for the aspirants who have trained themselves in observation skills and know the tricks to quickly visualize by drawing objects. Once again, time management is the key to solving the questions and identifying all the correct options. Further, some logic-based Questions like Quest No. 26 were easy if one cracked the logic promptly within the stipulated time.

Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)

Difficulty Level

Easy and Scoring

Ideal Time

35-40 minutes

Good Attempt

22-25 questions

Focus Areas

Logic and Observation, Understanding of Daily life Objects and Surrounding, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning, Logical Aptitude

Multiple-choice Questions are more tricky in that the possibility of finding the right option is only 25% for the correct choice, but a wrong answer tricks to a loss of (-1) mark, reducing an individual's overall score and thus affecting the merit. This section was perfectly balanced, comprising both easy-moderate (time-consuming) questions where most questions were easily doable and could have contributed to the individual score very well. Questions were purely logical and general awareness-based.

Part-B (Drawing Questions)

This section was well-received by students. The drawing questions included perspective drawing and product design related questions which were easy to moderate in difficulty level. With daily practice and innovative thinking, this sections would have been easily solved by the students.

Hello sir,

Thanks for reaching out!

Yes, you still have a good chance even with a mid CEED score, if the rest of your profile is strong. While the CEED score is important, most of the institutes use full selection process that includes your CEED score(Part A and B), Portfolio and often an interview or studio tests.Your 6 years of experience, strong portfolio and relevant coursera certificates can add significant value during admission in IITDM, Srishti etc which consider the overall profile not just the rank.
