No. 1 Design & Fashion Institute by ASSOCHAM, India Today, Outlook and The Week rankings
A good score in CEED 2026 will enable candidates to secure M.Des admissions into some of India's top design colleges. The CEED participating institutes include IITs, IIITs, and IISc. Apart from these, several colleges accept CEED scores to which aspirants can apply. Each participating institute will notify its own CEED 2026 cut-off. So a good score in CEED 2026 will vary across the institutes and categories. Read on to get an understanding of what can be expected to be a good score in CEED 2026.
The CEED entrance exam has two parts - Part A and Part B. Only those candidates who secure more than the minimum qualifying marks for Part A of CEED 2026 will be evaluated for Part B and assigned a rank.
Candidates have to first clear the CEED Part A cut-off. Only shortlisted candidates will then be evaluated for Part B. As per the CEED 2026 result evaluation criteria notified by the authorities, the score in CEED Part A carries 25% weightage while the score in CEED Part B carries 75% weightage.
The previous year CEED cut-off data shows that a good score in CEED 2026 Part A is expected to be around 54 marks for the open category. The CEED cut-off for Part A is calculated by adding the average marks of all the candidates in Part A, with half the standard deviation of the distribution of marks in Part A. The qualifying score in CEED Part A for the OBC and EWS categories is 90% of that for the general category. While for SC/ST candidates, it is 50% of that for the general candidates.
As per last year’s data, the average marks were 45.48 while the standard deviation was 16.98. According to the CEED 2026 exam pattern, the total marks for Part A are 150.
Category | Expected Good Score (out of 150) |
Open | 54 |
EWS | 48.60 |
OBC-NCL | 48.60 |
SC | 27 |
ST | 27 |
The CEED Part B carries a higher weightage of 75% while Part A carries only 25% weightage when calculating the final score. Part B carries 100 marks
Parts | Total Marks | Weightage |
Part A | 150 | 0.25 |
Part B | 100 | 0.75 |
A good score in CEED 2026 Part B is expected to be around 30-40 marks out of 100, if considering the average marks in Part A are around 45 out of 150. The score in CEED Part B carries 75% weightage in the final score calculation, which makes it very important.
Analysing the past trends, around 100 to 110 marks out of 250 is expected to be a good score in CEED 2026 for a general category candidate to secure IIT M.Des admissions. Due to the weightage of 25% and 75% for Part A and Part B, the weighted good score in CEED 2026 is expected to be around 55-60 marks.
However, the calculations around a good score can change due to several factors, such as the number of applicants and the difficulty level of the exam.
