see for admission in any nits, you need to apply in jee main exam, which is the only gate way exam for admission in btech course in nits.
however maha cet exam is applicable for admission in maharastra state government and private colleges for engineering and agriculture and pharmacy
its not necessary last time i left it blank because they insert your fathers name as your middle name . There wont be any problem if you leave it blank.
