Hi,
First of all let me clear one concept. NID is primarily a design institute and the courses are oriented like that. Courses are not segregated as per the background. So first you have to decide which area of design you are interested in. These courses are not to be taken according to what is suitable because suitable may mean career for some, interest for some or something else and that no one can decide for you except yourself.
Engineering graduates generally opt for product design, graphic design, digital design, information design, strategic design management etc. These are some specializations that may work for you if you want to match your engineering background with the design course. But the basic thing is that you need to check the syllabus and the course design of each specialization before you join in. Other than NID, there is CEED also that you could check out.
Hi Karthik,
Unfortunately, you are on a wrong platform to ask these kinds of questions.
We would like to say, to ask queries related to your career.
Not these stuffs.
Regards.

Yes, four-year-long Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) programme in Furniture & Interior Design is offered by NID. The programme is offered only at its Ahmedabad campus, like other B.Des degrees. Hi Akansha,

Based on the scores obtained in prelims, eligible candidates will have to appear for DAT mains.
It consists of following 2 parts-
1. Studio Test:
This may consist of tests in different formats such as drawing/sketching, hands-on model making, group discussions, etc. This test will be marked out of 100 points and will be conducted in English.
2. Interviews:
The interviews will be conducted separately for each discipline, immediately after the Studio Test,at the same centre.
Apoorva at your age it is quite common to have diverse interests. History is broadly a humanites subjects and there are plenty of general BA/ BA hon courses dealing with this. Culture is manifested in music, arts, performance arts and each one of them have different courses. And human mind is dealt with in disciplines as diverse as neurology to psycology. Culture also deals with issues like indian culture or western culture which are best dealt with in sociology or anthropology.
But interestingly even the course for which you are currently geting coached for also deals with each of these domains. Design is good way to engage with all these issues. NID has a facinating programme in textiles which if you are so inclined could lead you to deal with all these issues that you highlighted. So take it easy enjoy the coaching as much as you can.
There is also liberal arts, a new way of looking at education being offered by institutues like Ashoka, Flame and O P jindal. You can look at them as well if you want a rounded education without tying yourself up to either history or human mind
Here I am providing you the link to download NID sample paper. You can go through with given below link.
